Abstract:
Hollow-charge shell and antitank weapon for said shell, the shell being provided with an adjustable safety device that is automatically adjusted from a safety position to an armed position at the discharge of the shell, bringing a blasting cap contained in said safety device to its initiation position, wherein blocking means will give two alternative armed positions, one giving a symmetrical initiation of the hollow-explosive charge and a narrow explosive beam and the other giving an unsymmetrical initiation of the hollow-explosive charge and thus a broader explosive beam.
Abstract:
A position-independent dispersable land mine, in particular a hollow charge land mine for combatting wheeled or tracked vehicles, especially those which are armored includes an outer body which may be of a surface of revolution, such as a tube, and which carries an inner spherical member which is secured to the tube so that it is oriented in a fixed position in respect to the axis thereof. A second hollow spherical member is located inside the first hollow spherical member and it is faced away from the interior wall of the first spherical member by projecting elements which permits a relative rotation between the two spherical members. A hollow charge is contained within the interior of the inside second spherical member and it is mounted within a casing having a weight secured to one side so that the hollow liner of the hollow charge is oriented in a particular direction for example, such as that it extends normal to the axis of the tubular member. The mine is advantageously operated by a piezo-electric fuse which is also contained within the inner or second spherical member. The arrangement is such that the hollow charge is always maintained in a position such that it will be normal or perpendicular to the target.
Abstract:
A dual purpose grenade having a shaped high explosive charge for effectiveness against lightly armored targets, the said shaped charge having embossed walls for effectiveness against personnel.
Abstract:
1. In a projectile of the hollow charge type wherein a jet of metal is formed by the detonation of an explosive material in response to the impact of said projectile, said projectile having a body, an ogive forward of said body, said ogive being hollow; the combination therewith of the improvement whereby the behind the barrier effectiveness of the projectile is increased, said improvement comprising: a container mounted within said ogive, said container being imperforate and enclosing an inflammable material, said inflammable material being distributed substantially uniformly and continuously in both longitudinal and transverse directions such that there is always a mass of said inflammable material along the axis of said projectile, whereby, upon detonation of said projectile the jet formed thereby, traveling along the axis of said projectile, passes through said inflammable material carrying a substantial part of said inflammable material through and behind a target barrier.
