The invention relates to rolling bearings and concerns particularly the design of retainer and possibly guiding ring of such bearings. The invention is characterized thereby that the retainer or the guiding ring incorporates rings (3) of the material having the same coefficient of thermal expansion as the material of the race rings. These rings are embedded e.g. in plastic, which has another coefficient of thermal expansion than that of the material in the rings.

Each roller retaining member (10) includes a cylindrical part having pockets for receiving a bearing roller (3) and an annular flange or flanges (8) formed either on only one axial end or on both axial ends of the cylindrical part. Each roller retaining member comprises an annular ring portion (11) having an annular side face engaged by an annular outside face of the flange (8) of the case member, (6) and an annular fitting face 17 to be lightly engaged with or spaced apart by a slight gap from either a radially inner face or outer face of the flange. An improved bearing assembly supports a pair of parts for movement relative to each other. The bearing assembly includes a plurality of rotatable bearing elements such as rollers, which engage raceways on the parts. The bearing elements are disposed in openings formed in a longitudinally extending cage member which separates the bearing elements. The cage member is supported by wear pads which engage at least one of the raceways. The bearing elements roll along a central portion of the raceway. Wear pads support the cage member. To minimize scraping or marking of the portion of the raceway engaged by the bearing elements, the wear pads engage opposite sides of the raceway. The wear pads extend through openings formed in the cage and can be readily disconnected from the cage to facilitate replacement.
