Abstract:
Organic and inorganic composite pigments have an average particle diameter of 0.01 to 10.0 nullm, and comprise: white inorganic particles; a coating formed on surface of said white inorganic particle, comprising organosilane compounds obtainable from alkoxysilanes, or polysiloxanes; an organic pigment coat formed on said coating in an amount of 1 to 200 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the white inorganic particles; and an ultraviolet light-absorbing agent existing in at least a part of any portion from the surface of said white inorganic particle to surface of said organic pigment coat. The organic and inorganic composite pigments are not only lessened in amount of organic pigments desorbed from the surface of the white inorganic particles, but also exhibit an excellent light resistance owing to good ultraviolet absorbing property thereof.
Abstract:
Anatase titanium dioxide particles no larger than 100 nm and coated with a layer of a metal oxide, hydroxide or oxohydroxide, said particles having a BET specific surface area of at least 70 m2/g and a density of around 2.2. A method for preparing said particles, and the use thereof as an anti-UV agent, in particular for preparing formulations for cosmetics, varnishes, paints and plastics, are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a process for producing ultrafine particulate complex oxide containing titanium oxide, including vapor-phase producing a complex oxide containing titanium oxide having a BET specific surface area of about 5 to about 200 m2/g, where a starting material gas containing titanium tetrachloride and an oxidizing gas are preheated to about 700° C. or more, and are reacted with a solution or a slurry of a salt containing a metallic element. The present invention also provides an ultrafine particulate complex oxide containing titanium oxide obtained by the process, and use of the oxide.
Abstract:
Colored roofing granules and methods for their preparations, having decorative metallic appearance and enhanced stability against discoloration of color containing a silica-encapsulated metallic flake or colored lamellar effect pigment distributed in an insolubilized alkali silicate coating.
Abstract:
A titanium dioxide powder/iron oxide mixed oxide which is prepared from FeCl3 and TiCl4 using a pyrogenic, especially a flame hydrolytic method. A further possibility is to coat pyrogenically, especially flame hydrolytically prepared titanium dioxide with iron oxide in aqueous dispersion. Both of these titanium dioxide powders which contain iron oxide may be used as a UV absorber in sunscreens.
Abstract:
The use of surface-coated rutile modification TiO2 pigments having a primary particle grain size d50 of 0.1 to 1.0 nullm as an anticorrosive white pigment, with firstly magnesium phosphate and secondly aluminum oxides and/or aluminum hydroxides being precipitated onto the TiO2 pigments, is described.
Abstract:
Improved particulate inorganic pigments and processes for preparing such inorganic pigments which have enhanced dispersibility in plastic materials are provided. The processes basically comprise coating the particulate inorganic pigment with a dispersibility improving agent comprised of a complex mixture of partially and totally polysaturated and unsaturated fatty acid esters and derivatives thereof.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a process for generating titanium dioxide pigments that have reduced moisture retention. By leaching oxidizer discharge and removing alumina containing compounds, one is able to generate a low volatile pigmentary bases. These low volatile pigmentary bases may be processed into finished low volatile pigments that may be combined with polymers to form polymer matrices. These pigments may be incorporated into polymer matrices at high temperatures without significant lacing.
Abstract:
A ceramics dispersion liquid is provided. The dispersion liquid may form an applied film easily recovering hydrophilic properties with light irradiation even when contaminated by lipophilic materials. The ceramics dispersion liquid comprises a ceramics, a dispersion medium, and at least one compound selected from a carboxylic acid, an ammonium carboxylate, a salt of carboxylic acid with metal selected from Ia group, IIa group, IIIa group, Va group, VIa group, VIIa group, VIII group, Ib group, IIb group, IIIb group, IVb group and lanthanoid group, and a salt of oxalic acid with metal selected from IVa group.
Abstract:
A cosmetic composition comprising titanium oxide coated with one or both of silica and alumina or zinc oxide coated with one or both of silica and alumina, and a thickening polymer having a carboxyl group in the side chain, preferably a carboxyvinyl polymer, wherein when 10% by mass of silica- and/or alumina-coated titanium oxide or silica- and/or alumina-coated zinc oxide is dispersed in an aqueous solution containing 0.133% by mass of a carboxyvinyl polymer, the viscosity after the passing of 100 hours is 50% or more of the initial viscosity. A cosmetic composition comprising titanium oxide coated with one or both silica and alumina or zinc oxide coated with one or both of silica and alumina, and a thickening polymer having a carboxyl group in the side chain of the invention, can maintain emulsion stability by thickening of polymer for a long period of time and can be widely and suitably used for ultraviolet shielding cosmetic materials or the like having preparation form stability.
