摘要: A railway waggon comprises on one hand a load carrier (2) composed of two carrying beams (12, 12') and an intermediate, load-receiving platform part (13), and on the other hand bogies (3) with wheels (4) for railway tracks (5). The platform part (13) is located on level with or below the carrying beams (12, 12'), which at their ends change into jibs (15, 15') located above the beams so that these may be applied on top of the bogies (3), without the platform (13) being markedly distanced vertically from the wheel base of the bogies. The load carrier (2) is on one hand coupled to the bogie via a joint (25, 26) in order to allow for relative turning motions between the bogie and the load carrier, and on the other hand detachably connected with each one of the bogies, in order to, in an inactive state in connection with loading and unloading, be able to be displaced with each end laterally. In this way, a removal of the load carrier to a laterally pivoted position is allowed for, in which a vehicle may be driven on and off the platform part in the area between the carrying beams (12, 12') of the load carrier.

摘要: System and method for loading and unloading highway vehicles for transportation over railroad lines. The system has a number of railroad vehicles, each having a deck for highway vehicles. The deck extends from a central portion of the vehicle to one or both ends of the railway vehicle. The invention includes a terminal which has at least one stationary railroad track portion which is connected to a railroad system outside of the terminal. The terminal also has number of moveable railroad track segments. These segments can be positioned in a first configuration in which they are aligned so that railroad vehicles can be rolled from one or more of the stationary railroad track segments onto the moveable railroad track segments. These segments can also be positioned in a second configuration in which at least one end of each of the railroad vehicles is positioned adjacent a dock or other surface for motor vehicles, so that highway vehicles can be moved from the railroad vehicles onto the surface for motor vehicles, or from the surface for motor vehicles to the railroad vehicles. The system is equipped to move the moveable track segments from the first configuration to the second configuration, and back to the first configuration. The surface for motor vehicles is connected to a highway system outside of the terminal.

摘要: The present invention include a non-motorized low-profile platform cart system for transporting heavy equipment, machinery and vehicles to limited access areas. The system includes a low profile platform cart without motorization and a portable loading ramp for loading vehicles and such onto the cart. The cart may be moved by any motor power source with hi-rail capability other than train engines. The cart also has a rear plow which is capable of removing ballast and debris from the tracks. Use of the cart and ramp allow easy access to limited access areas such as construction areas and bridge repair areas, as well as limited access railway areas where there are no access roads. This invention produces a simple, highly economical solution to the problem of limited access.

摘要: A novel railcar includes a floor, upstanding side walls which are connected to the floor and a top. A no slack coupler is provided for coupling adjacent railcars together to form an articulated train. The railcar includes a landing gear having a flanged wheel beneath a forward portion thereof and a bi-directional bogie mounted beneath a rearward portion thereof. The landing gear and bogie can be used to support and move the railcar on railroad tracks. Structure is provided for attaching a dolly adaptor to a rear end of the railcar and for connecting a tractor to a front end of the railcar. The railcar can be easily detached from the remainder of the articulated train, moved off of the tracks and transported around a rail yard by the tractor and the dolly adaptor so that the railcar can be loaded at a dock. Thereafter, the railcar can be easily reattached into the train on the track.

摘要: A vehicle transporter for supporting cars for shipment in a shipping container includes a lower pallet and an upper pallet, each of which is adapted to receive a car with its wheels supported thereon. A pair of columns is pivotally affixed to each side of the lower pallet. The upper pallet is affixed to the columns at a selected adjustable height above the lower pallet and substantially parallel to the lower pallet. A length-adjustable brace is connected diagonally between the upper and lower pallets to impart stiffness to the transporter. Each pallet has a tie down at each end so that the car body can be lowered on its suspension, thereby allowing cars with higher silhouettes loaded on the transporter to be received within the container. The upper pallets have openings, which permit an upper portion of a car to protrude through the opening to a height above the level of the upper pallet.

摘要: A retainer is provided for retaining a catch mounted to a first portion of a split ramp car in its unlocked position as a second portion of a ramp car exits a locking area in which it is previously locked. An arm portion of the retainer extends into the locking area and controls the operation of the retainer in response to the movement of the ramp and the locking area. A fluid coupler, automatically couples a first and second portions of a main reservoir pipe and a first and second portions of a brake pipe connected to each first and second portion of the ramp car respectively, when the ramp is in its raised and travel position. Valves in each of the main reservoir passages close the main reservoir passage when the first and second housings are separated and opens the main reservoir passages when the first and second housings are joined. An electrical coupler is also automatically coupled as the two portions of the ramp car are joined. The fluid and the electrical coupler are mounted to the respective portions of the ramp car so as to be aligned and adjust themselves with respect to the ramp car during mating.

摘要: A railroad car adapted to receive at least one container from a truck positioned along the railroad car includes a deck mounted on wheels and at least one turntable rotatably mounted on the deck. The turntable includes a pair of spaced, parallel guide tracks which can slidably receive and support a container. A shuttle bar extends transversely across and is slidably mounted on the deck. The shuttle bar is connected to the turntable so that sliding movement of the shuttle bar rotates the turntable between a position in which the guide tracks extend longitudinally along the deck and a position in which the guide tracks extend across the width of the deck. The shuttle bar has hooks on its ends which can be engaged by a bail on the truck to allow the truck to move the shuttle bar and thus rotate the turntable. When the turntable is in its position extending across the width of the deck, the truck can slide a container either onto or off of the guide tracks so as to load or unload a container from the railroad car.

摘要: A system for moving freight carriers including highway semi-trailers and receptacles such as demountable containers and merchandise racks in trains on railway tracks includes railway trucks, each slidably mounting a transversely centered fifth wheel support to permit its positioning at different locations longitudinally of the truck and swivelly mounting a pair of longitudinally disposed structures each including a pair of transversely spaced treadways for supporting semi-trailer highway wheels such that the highway wheels at the rear of one semi-trailer can be supported on one wheel supporting structure and the fifth wheel support can be positioned between the treadways of the other wheel supporting structure to support the front end of another semi-trailer, whereby a plurality of semi-trailer and railway trucks are linkable into a train with the front end of the leading semi-trailer supported on the fifth wheel support of a road-rail tractor. Compatible devices are provided on the treadways for positioning semi-trailer highway wheels thereon and for supporting and securing demountable containers and merchandise racks on the trucks.

摘要: A vehicle conveyor is provided with an upper wheel engaging active track and a lower inactive track. Rollers can be moved up by a roller up guide into the active track to engage the wheel of a vehicle for moving the vehicle along a path. The length of the conveyor is reduced by providing a roller down guide which can remove a roller from the active track along the length of the conveyor and by cycling the rollers such that the first roller on the active track engages the front wheel of a vehicle until the rear wheel of the vehicle is beyond the roller up guide, then an additional roller is raised to the active track behind the rear wheel of the vehicle and the first active roller is removed from the active track. Consequently, the vehicle is first moved by engagement by its front wheel and subsequently moved by engagement with its rear wheel to reduce the length of the conveyor.
