The striker assembly includes a driver member constructed and arranged to strike a fastener disposed in the fastener drive track. The striker assembly is constructed and arranged to be moved along the guide track through a plurality of alternating drive strokes and return strokes to effect a plurality of impacts of the driver member upon the fastener in order to drive the fastener into the workpiece. The striker assembly has a substantially constant drive stroke lengths relative to the guide track. The power drive assembly is constructed and arranged to drive the striker assembly to effect the plurality of impacts of the driver member upon the fastener, and the feed mechanism is constructed and arranged to feed successive fasteners into the drive track to be struck by the striker assembly.
Abstract:
A nail engaging device of a nailer includes a cover pivotally connected to the barrel of the nailer and two recesses are defined in the cover. A first nail pushing member and a second nail pushing member are respectively received in the two recesses and two springs respectively urge the first nail pushing member and the second nail pushing member. A protrusion retractably extends from one of the two recesses and is located beside the second nail pushing member. The first nail pushing member and the second nail pushing member push the nails connected by wires in a nail feeding mechanism. When using nails connected by a plastic plate, the second nail pushing member is compressed by the second nail pushing member. The protrusion supports the plastic plate and pushes the nails into the barrel.

Abstract:
A setting tool for driving fastening elements (12) includes a transport device (7) for strip-shaped magazines (11) containing the fastening elements (12) each spaced apart at a dimension (A) from one another. Pivotal transport levers (13, 22) are arranged within the transport device (7) for moving the magazines (11). One of the transport levers (22) is displaceable by a distance corresponding at least to the transporting path of the other transport lever (13). With the transport device (7) it is possible to insure different transport paths.
Abstract:
A tack for holding soft thin membrane-like materials such as roof shingles, roofing felt, or house wrap is produced in collated strips from a stock of band sheet metal. Each tack has a head and a shank lanced out of the head and bent out to leave behind a slot in the head. The shank of a given tack nests within the slot of an adjacent tack in a side by side relationship for collating in strips for use in a tacker tool. The production of the collated strips of tacks includes a progressive punch press operation wherein the stock of band sheet metal is indexed incrementally therethrough in a given indexing direction. At the extreme end of the progressive punch press operation, a completed tack is advanced to and through a collating operation in a given collating direction. In one example, the indexing direction and collating direction are arranged 135.degree. apart. The collating direction is generally co-axial with the alignment of the slot of the tacks as each is separated off the end of the stock band of sheet metal, such that, without rotating the tack, the shank of each tack can be nested in the slot of the preceding tack merely by advancing the tack in a straight line.
Abstract:
A fastener driving tool includes a fastener driving device for driving fasteners one after another. The fasteners are connected in series to each other to form a strip of fasteners. A fastener feeding device is provided for feeding the fasteners one after another to a driving position by the fastener driving device. The fastener feeding device includes a first claw and a second claw positioned forwardly of the first claw in the feeding direction of the fasteners. A drive device is provided for reciprocally moving each of the first and second claws between a frontmost position and a rearmost position. A stroke adjusting device is operable to provide difference between the stroke of movement of the first claw and the stroke of movement of the second claw, so that the stroke of movement of the second claw is smaller than the stroke of movement of the first claw.
Abstract:
A housing including a handle portion and drive portion is provided. A power operated drive in the housing drive portion is operable to be selectively moved through a drive stroke and a return stroke. A nosepiece and magazine assembly are carried by the housing including cooperating fixed and movable structure defining an elongated drive track, a feed track leading laterally into the drive track, and a coil container leading into the feed track. A fastener driving element is slidably mounted in the drive track and operatively connected with the power operated drive so as to drive a leading fastener fed into the drive track from the feed track outwardly of the drive track. The unitary movable structure is mounted for pivotal movement when a fastener package has been depleted from a closed operating position in cooperating relation with the fixed structure into an open loading position. An actuating mechanism is provided for actuating the power operated drive to move through an operating cycle. An actuation prevention mechanism is provided for preventing the actuation of the power operated drive by the actuating mechanism in response to the movement of the movable structure from the closed operating position to the open loading position. A resilient guard structure is disposed on the housing and extends outwardly from the periphery thereof. Mechanical structure is provided for fixedly mounting the resilient guard structure on the housing.
Abstract:
A combustion-powered, fastener-driving tool comprises a structure defining a combustion chamber and defining a driving piston cylinder, which has a wall and defines an axis. A nosepiece is mounted to said structure and communicates with the driving piston cylinder. A driving piston mounting a driving member is arranged to be axially driven within the wall of the driving piston cylinder upon combustion of a fuel in the combustion chamber, so as to drive the driving member from an uppermost position wherein the driving member is retracted from the nosepiece into a lowermost position wherein the driving member is extended into the nosepiece. A combusted gases-actuated mechanism is employed for feeding fasteners from a collated strip of fasteners individually and successively into the nosepiece. Combusted gases are diverted from the driving piston cylinder so as to actuate the feeding mechanism when the driving piston is driven. Combusted gases are taken in through the wall of the driving piston cylinder, at a location between the uppermost position of the driving piston and the position of the driving piston when combusted gases are exhausted through one or more ports in the wall of the driving piston cylinder.
Abstract:
A fastener guide mechanism in a fastener driving tool includes a door member for closing an opening formed on one of the lateral sides of a fastener guide having a driver guide and a fastener guide. The fastener guide includes therein a fastener guide channel. A fastener feeding device having a fastener feeding member moves the fasteners connected by a carrier and disposed in the fastener guide channel forwardly toward the driver guide track of the driver guide one after another. A pressing member is mounted on the door member for pressing the connected fasteners on the fastener feeding member. The pressing member is operable to contact the connected fasteners at a first position when the connected fasteners are of a first kind. The pressing member is operable to contact the connected fasteners at a second position separated from the first position in a direction away from the fastener guide channel. The pressing member is biased by a biasing member for normally biasing toward the connected fasteners. A stopper member prevents movement of the pressing member from the first position in a direction away from the fastener guide channel.
