    摘要： A charger stand for a pair of electrically heated ice skates comprises a pair of channel shaped receptacles for receiving the skates in parallel side by side position with a housing for the charger electronics between the receptacles. A first connector connects to the blade and a second connector at the heel engaging portion touches a terminal on the skate heel. The blade is heated by a heating element encapsulated on the top edge of the blade in The?? battery pack is carried in the rear tower which is sealed against moisture penetration and includes two proximity switches for actuation.

    摘要： A scabbard for receiving a blade of an ice skate. The scabbard has a pouch with a top opening for receiving the blade of the ice skate and is constructed from various material layers to protect a user from being cut by the sharp edges of the blade when the ice skate is carried and to protect the blade when the ice skate is being stored. In addition to preventing puncture of the pouch, a friction enhancing material is disposed on an outer portion of flexible material of the pouch along a bottom of the pouch and extending from a first end to a second end of the pouch, which also allows a skater to safely walk with the scabbard attached about the blade. The pouch has a drawstring means for adjustably fitting the pouch, about the blade of the ice skate. This permits the scabbard to be used on various sizes of ice skates without modification. Securing means such as, a cord lock, for slidably adjusting the size of the pouch is disposed on an exposed cord member portion near a first end and a second end of the cord member so that when the blade is inserted into the pouch, the scabbard is releasably secured about the ice skate blade. To facilitate evaporation of moisture and to reduce drying time, ventilation ports may be included on the outer portion of flexible material of the pouch.

    摘要： An apparatus and method for sharpening skate blades operate by measuring the length of a skate blade, determining a predetermined profile corresponding to a desired radius of curvature for the blade, and coordinating the motion of a grinding wheel and the blade to grind the blade according to the predetermined profile. A grinding force is applied by the grinding wheel against the blade using a stepper motor coupled through a screw drive, thereby not allowing the grinding wheel to chatter or bounce against the blade. In addition, the blade is clamped end-to-end by a clamping assembly that also determines the length of the blade via the position of the clamp.

    摘要： A skate guard has front and rear pieces with slots for receiving the front and rear portions of a skate runner. A center piece is rigidly connected to the front and rear pieces, and it is formed of a stretchable elastomeric material which biases the front and rear pieces toward each other. The center piece has a downwardly facing tread surface, and it is stiff enough to keep the front and rear pieces substantially longitudinally aligned with each other when the device is not on a skate runner. In a gap between the front and rear pieces, the center piece has a runner-protecting portion which (a) is no higher than the bottom walls of the runner-receiving slots, and (b) lies between two vertical longitudinal planes which include the sidewalls of the runner-receiving slots. Separately molded elastomeric tread pieces are attached to the front and rear pieces. Each tread piece has a horizontal tread portion and a bumper portion which extends around the end of its respective front or rear piece. To facilitate cutting of the front and rear pieces to suitable lengths, pairs of transversely aligned horizontal cutter-positioning grooves are provided on opposite sides of the runner-receiving slots. For further guidance of a cutting tool, outboard vertical grooves are located in a same transverse plane as each pair of cutter-positioning grooves.
