Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for managing transmissions using multiple component carriers (CCs) in which transmissions using one or more of the CCs may span less than a full transmission time of a slot or other transmission time interval. A UE may signal a capability to transmit such transmissions, and one or more capabilities related to carrier aggregation that may be used by a base station for scheduling of transmissions on different CCs. In the event that overlapping transmissions on two or more CCs exceed a maximum power threshold, various techniques for dropping at least a portion of one or more transmissions of one or more CCs are described.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to communication systems, and more particularly, to single-carrier waveform generation for transmission. An exemplary method generally includes concatenating a first sequence of data samples with samples of a known sequence to generate a first series of samples, performing a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) on the first series of samples to generate a first series of frequency-domain samples, mapping the first series of frequency-domain samples and first zero values to first tones of a system bandwidth, performing an inverse discrete Fourier transform (IDFT) on the mapped first series of frequency-domain samples and the mapped first zero values to generate first time-domain samples of a first orthogonal frequency domain multiplexing (OFDM) symbol, and transmitting the first OFDM symbol as a single-carrier waveform in a first period.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment may determine that a signal characteristic of a unicast signal is better than a signal characteristic of a broadcast signal; and/or transmit, based at least in part on the determination, a request for an update to a master information block or a minimum system information block to be provided to the user equipment using the unicast signal. In some aspects, a base station may determine that a signal characteristic of a unicast signal associated with a user equipment (UE) is better than a signal characteristic of a broadcast signal broadcasted by the base station; and/or transmit, based on the determination, an update to a master information block (MIB) or a minimum system information block (MSIB) to the UE using the unicast signal. Abstract: Various aspects described herein relate to techniques for timing control with filtering in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)-based wireless communications systems. In an aspect, the method includes determining whether time-domain filtering or frequency-domain filtering is used for a transmission signal waveform, and identifying a time delay based on a determination that the time-domain filtering is used for the transmission signal waveform. The method further includes applying a timing correction based on the identified time delay. The techniques described herein may apply to different communications technologies, including 5th Generation (5G) New Radio (NR) communications technology.

Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may determine a narrowband TDD frame structure of a group of narrowband TDD frame structures for narrowband communications. The apparatus may transmit a series of repetitions of a narrowband physical downlink channel using the narrowband TDD frame structure. In one aspect, a first portion of repetitions from the series of repetitions may be transmitted in one or more first sets of downlink subframes using a first scrambling sequence. In one aspect, a second portion of repetitions from the series of repetitions may be transmitted in one or more second sets of downlink subframes using a second scrambling sequence.

Abstract: In an aspect, a scheduled entity obtains a first set of indications associated with a beam failure recovery procedure, starts at least one of a first timer or a second timer based on the obtained first set of indications, and detects a radio link failure when the first timer expires or when the second timer expires. In some aspects, the scheduled entity starts at least one of the first timer or the second timer when N out-of-sync indications are obtained over a network configured time window, the N out-of-sync indications including aperiodic out-of-sync indications from the first set of indications and out-of-sync indications associated with a radio link monitoring procedure. In some aspects, the scheduled entity starts at least the second timer when the first set of indications includes a single aperiodic out-of-sync indication.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support techniques for intra-satellite handover. The described techniques provide for handovers such that a user equipment (UE) may transition from communications with a satellite via a first frequency (or set of frequencies) to communications with the same satellite via a second frequency (or set of frequencies). A UE may determine relevant timing and/or configuration for the second frequency (or set of frequencies) prior to transitioning from communications via the first frequency (or set of frequencies). Thus, the UE may efficiently begin communications at a second frequency (or set of frequencies) that are different than the first frequency (or set of frequencies)—for example, without performing a random access procedure.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may be in communication with multiple base stations having a non-ideal backhaul link, where uplink and downlink transmission on a carrier may be sent on respective communication links. The transmissions may be synchronous or asynchronous, and the UE may identify a set of search candidates in overlapping TTIs associated with downlink transmissions from respective base stations. In some cases, a number or a timing of the set of search candidates may be based on the overlapping TTIs. The UE may also use different uplink transmit powers for transmissions on the different communication links. In some cases, a minimum reserved power may be used for each link where a remaining transmit power, for example, up to a maximum total transmit power, may be split between the links or applied to the uplink transmission that occurs temporally first.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for transmissions of multiple instances of control information, such as remaining minimum system information (RMSI) that may be used for system access by a user equipment (UE). The multiple instances of the control information may be transmitted in a number of monitoring occasions that may be monitored by a UE, and within the monitoring occasions, the control information may be transmitted using different time locations, frequency locations, or combinations thereof. The locations may be identified based at least in part on one or more parameters associated with at least a first monitoring occasion. The one or more parameters may include an identification parameter associated with the base station or monitoring occasion, an index value associated with the monitoring occasion, a frequency parameter associated with the monitoring occasion, a control information multiplexing pattern, or any combination thereof.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless communications network may set priorities for cell groups in dual connectivity. A higher priority cell group may reserve slots and indicate the reserved slots to the lower priority cell group, for example by a backhaul connection. The high priority cell group may also indicate additional, non-reserved slots, which the lower priority cell group may reserve or use for scheduling. One of the cell groups may transmit a slot format indication (SFI) to a user equipment (UE) in the dual connectivity to indicate the slot reservations. In some cases, a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) timing parameter may be based on a number of reserved slots. In some cases, power control may be varied based on whether the UE is capable of simultaneous uplink and downlink transmission.
