    Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure relate to retransmission techniques for communication of information (e.g., for wireless communication). In some aspects, if a device's first transmission including encoded data and parity information (subject to puncture) fails, the device's retransmission (e.g., in response to a NAK) involves transmitting the parity information that was punctured. In some aspects, the coding rate used for encoding the data for the first transmission is selected to meet an error rate (e.g., a block error rate) for the second transmission. The second transmission may also include repetition information that includes the encoded data. The repetition information could also include at least a portion of the encoded parity information.

    Abstract: Mechanisms for reduction of channel state information (CSI) feedback overhead are disclosed for full dimensional multiple input, multiple output (FD-MIMO) systems with large dimension antenna ports. In one aspect, rank-dependent CSI antenna port measurements are used in order to limit the number of antenna ports for high rank CSI reporting. Another aspect allows a user equipment (UE) to select subband feedback for aperiodic CSI porting on an uplink shared channel when the UE is to report subband quality and precoding indicators. Another aspect provides for on-demand CSI feedback that dynamically configures CSI feedback parameters. To reduce the signaling overhead, the multiple parameter sets may be pre-configured with different values for dynamic reporting parameters.

    Abstract: The described techniques relate to improved methods, systems, devices, or apparatuses that support communication schemes for small cyclic delay diversity (SCDD) reference signals. A base station may transmit a control message comprising at least one channel state information (CSI) configuration parameter to a user equipment (UE). The UE may identify a time offset between a plurality of virtual antennas of the base station based at least in part on the CSI configuration parameter. The UE may perform measurements of a plurality of CSI reference signals (CSI-RSs) transmitted by the base station and associated with the virtual antennas. The UE may transmit a feedback message based at least in part on the determined time offset and the measurements of the CSI-RSs.

    Abstract: Enhanced channel state information (CSI) procedures for full dimension-multiple input, multiple output (FD-MIMO) is discussed in which a number of CSI reference signal (CSI-RS) ports configured for a user equipment (UE) is determined. In response to the CSI-RS ports including both horizontal and vertical ports, the UE may determine a first precoding matrix from a plurality of precoding matrices constructed by a Kronecker product of a horizontal precoding matrix and a vertical precoding matrix. The UE selects a predetermined number of precoding vectors out of the first precoding matrix and generates a wideband precoding matrix, based on the selected predetermined number of precoding vectors. The UE reports one or more CSI reports, wherein the CSI re-ports includes at least one precoding matrix indicator (PMI) for the first precoding matrix and at least an indication of the selection of the predetermined number of precoding vectors.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques and apparatus for design of hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback bits. The method generally includes obtaining a payload to be transmitted, partitioning the payload into a plurality of blocks, and partitioning each block of the plurality of blocks into a plurality of sections. The method also includes deriving redundancy check information for each section of the plurality of sections, and generating a plurality of codewords, each comprising a block of the plurality of blocks and the redundancy check information for each section of the block, wherein a location of each of the sections in the codewords is determined based on an error rate corresponding to each of the sections.
