Abstract: This invention describes an imaging system based on an array of semiconductor photosensitive elements with isolating structure between elements (pixels) of the array. The isolated pixels of the array may be photodiodes and they provide excellent imaging capabilities that are important for many applications. The isolated photosensitive pixels may be comprised also by photoconductors, avalanche photodiodes, photosensitive IC, or other similar solid-state devices. The fields of possible application include but are not limited to the detector modules for homeland security, medical imaging systems (CT, SPECT, and PET including), fundamental and applied research, etc.

Abstract: Field effect semiconductor diodes and improved processing techniques for forming the field effect semiconductor diodes having semiconductor layers forming a source, a body and a drain of a field effect device, the semiconductor layers forming pedestals having an insulating layer and a gate on sides thereof vertically spanning the body and a part of the source and drain layers, and a conductive contact layer over the pedestals making electrical contact with the drain and the gate, the conductive layer being in contact with the body at least one position on each pedestal. The conductive layer may be in contact with the body through at least one opening in the source layer, or the source layer may be a discontinuous doped layer, the body layer extending between the discontinuous doped layer forming the source layer to be in electrical contact with the conductive layer. Other aspects and variations of the invention are disclosed.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods and apparatus capable of routine placement and replacement of fabricator tools in a designated tool location. The tool location can be selected from multiple tool locations arranged in a matrix with horizontal and vertical designations. In another aspect, the fabricator tool placement and replacement can be accomplished while maintaining a clean space environment about the fabricator tool.

Abstract: A fab can be constructed as a round or rectangular annular tube with a primary cleanspace located in-between its inner and outer tubes. The fab can be encircled with levels upon which tools can be densely packed while preserving unidirectional air flow. If only tool ports are inside, and robotics are used, primary cleanspace size can be minimized. Highly simplified robotics can be used. Tools can be removed and repaired centrally. A secondary cleanspace can be added for tool bodies. Multilevel construction enhances use of prefabricated units for fab build or maintenance. Curves or folds, applied to a conventional planar cleanroom, can construct a wide range of fab geometries, including a tubular non-annular fab. A fab can also be constructed according to a curved or non-curved sectional cut of an annular tube. A novel fab, of a non-curved section, can include a nonsegmented cleanspace or have its tools vertically stacked.
