Abstract: A videoconferencing system has a videoconferencing unit that use portable devices as peripherals for the system. The portable devices obtain near-end audio and send the audio to the videoconferencing unit via a wireless connection. In turn, the videoconferencing unit sends the near-end audio from the loudest portable device along with near-end video to the far-end. The portable devices can control the videoconferencing unit and can initially establish the videoconference by connecting with the far-end and then transferring operations to the videoconferencing unit. To deal with acoustic coupling between the unit's loudspeaker and the portable device's microphone, the unit uses an echo canceller that is compensated for differences in the clocks used in the A/D and D/A converters of the loudspeaker and microphone.

Abstract: An automatic process for producing professional, directed, production crew quality, video for videoconferencing is described. The process includes a method for positioning a 360 degree panoramic strip view of a room. The method includes receiving motion detection data, accepting presence sensor data, receiving video data from cameras related to a room view, and centering individuals in a room view, based on the received motion detection data, the accepted presence sensor data and received video data. The method also includes zooming onto the centered individuals in the room view, obtaining sound source localization data and active talker information, and determining how to arrange the display of individuals in a logical manner that is visually pleasing and aides understanding. Rule based logic is applied to assist with the automatic processing of video into director quality video production. Various video sources may be used as video stream sources for the automated system.

Abstract: Apparatuses, computer readable media, and methods are disclosed for providing composite images and/or videos having a high dynamic range. The apparatus includes a video capture module for capturing video images of a scene at a differing exposure levels. The apparatus further includes a region identification module for identifying regions in the captured video images of the scene that may benefit from being individually optimally-exposed. The apparatus further includes a region adjustment module for updating the positions of the various identified regions within the scene and a region exposure adjustment module for determining optimal exposure settings for the various identified regions of the scene. A video subsystem composites and encodes the various optimally-exposed regions of the scene onto a video image of a static portion of the scene having a high dynamic range that was, e.g., captured at a different moment in time than the various optimally-exposed regions of the scene.

Abstract: A videoconferencing endpoint includes at least one processor a number of microphones and at least one camera. The endpoint can receive audio information and visual motion information during a teleconferencing session. The audio information includes one or more angles with respect to the microphone from a location of a teleconferencing session. The system evaluates the audio information is evaluated to determine at least one candidate angle corresponding to a possible location of an active talker. The candidate angle can be analyzed further with respect to the motion information to determine whether the candidate angle correctly corresponds to person who is speaking during the teleconferencing session. The person's face can then be framed within a frame view.

Abstract: An automatic process for producing professional, directed, production crew quality, video for videoconferencing is described. Rule based logic is integrated into an automatic process for producing director quality video for videoconferencing. The automatic process uses sensor data to process video streams for video conferencing. A method and system for automatically processing sensor data on room activity into general room analytics for further processing by application of rules based logic to produce production quality video for videoconferencing is described. Sensory devices and equipment, for example motion, infrared, audio, sound source localization (SSL) and video are used to detect room activity or room stimulus. The room activity is analyzed (for example, to determine whether individuals are in the subject room, speaker identification and movement within the room) and processed to produce room analytics. Speaker identification and relative placement information are used to logically depict speakers conversing with one another.

Abstract: Recording of sessions in a peer-to-peer (P2P) videoconference can be performed. In a first embodiment each participant provides a one-way audio and video stream to a recording server, the recording server cooperating with the signaling server to establish the media streams and to record the desired streams and place desired restrictions on the resulting stored file. In a second embodiment, a plurality of recording servers are present, with participants cooperating with one of the recording servers to record each participants audio and video stream. In a third embodiment a recording server is integrated with the participant endpoint, with that participant using the local recording server.

Abstract: An enhanced roster for a scheduled collaboration system provides information about invitees that have joined but left a collaboration session and invitees that have not yet joined the collaboration session. A collaboration tool interfaces with a scheduling system and a presence and location system to obtain useful information to insert into the roster, so that the enhanced roster can display information that may be of use to the host or other participants in the collaboration session. As events occur or people join or leave the session, the updated information in the enhanced roster may be updated.
