Abstract:
A system and method to predict engine air amount for an internal combustion engine is described. Included is a method to predict a change in engine air amount based on a difference in engine speed. This method is especially suited to engine starts, where engine air amount is difficult to predict due to low engine speed and limited sensor information. The system and method provides the prediction of engine air amount without extensive models or calibration. Fuel is supplied based on the predicted engine air amount.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for configuring agent log-off reasons in connection with an automatic contact distribution (ACD) system. An organization operating an ACD system can define any number of agent log-off reasons, which can be configured for individual agents, for groups of agents, or system-wide. These custom-defined reasons can be incorporated in historical reports and in real-time displays regarding schedule adherence. These custom-defined reasons can be changed at any time. In addition, the order in which the reasons appear for selection by an agent can be changed at any time, and can be reordered automatically in accordance with different algorithms.
Abstract:
The present invention encompasses solid dose delivery systems for administration of guest substances. Preferred delivery systems are suitable for delivery of bioactive materials to subcutaneous and intradermal, intramuscular, intravenous tissue, the delivery system being sized and shaped for penetrating the epidermis. The delivery systems comprises a vitreous vehicle loaded with the guest substance and capable of releasing the guest substance in situ at various controlled rates. The present invention further includes methods of making and using the solid dose delivery systems.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a new method and system for optimizing the efficiency of an automotive catalytic converter. The claimed invention comprises adjusting an air/fuel ratio in the cylinders of an internal combustion engine to maintain a desired level of oxidants in the catalytic converter. At various times, the actual amount of oxidants stored in the catalytic converter is determined. The actual oxidant amount is compared to a target amount of oxidants to be stored in the catalytic converter. The air/fuel ratio in the cylinders is adjusted based on the magnitude of the difference between the actual oxidant amount and the target oxidant amount to prevent NOx and hydrocarbon breakthrough.
Abstract:
A shelving system designed to fit within the confines of a transport vehicle and including side wall sections forming a vertical and horizontal framework. The vertical sections contain a series of bolt holes for bolting through of both angle shaped and pocket shaped supports. The bolt holes provide for incremental vertical adjustment of the position of both of these types of supports. The pocket shaped supports are used to support telescopically adjustable load support bars. The angle shaped supports are used to support planking that functions as a shelf for merchandise in the vehicle.
Abstract:
An image to be clipped is decomposed into its edges and the edges simultaneously clipped by multiple execution units of a SIMD computer along pairs of parallel clip planes. Successive parallel operations are performed on polygons recomposed using the clipped output edges, until all clipping has been performed.
Abstract:
A foundation assembly is disclosed in which a wire grid is supported above a support frame by a plurality of wire form members extending parallel to one another and arranged in pairs. The wire form members have leg portions extending therefrom and are rotatably mounted to the wire grid to enable a wire subassembly to be shipped with the wire form members rotated to folded positions in which the leg portions lie against the wire grid. After shipping, the wire form members are rotated to extend the leg portions away from the wire grid at an angle less than ninety degrees where the paired wire support members cooperate together forming a rigid structure to prevent collapse of the foundation assembly.
Abstract:
A by-pass gas turbine engine capable of producing an unmixed exhaust stream which comprises a core of hot turbine exhaust gases surrounded by an annular layer of by-pass air, is combined with a target thrust reverser. The ratio of the total pressure of the by-pass air to the total pressure of the turbine exhaust gases is arranged to be greater than unity to a significant extent, and the buckets are made from lightweight materials such as titanium, light alloys or even fiber re-inforced composite materials.
Abstract:
A carrier system is described in which a number of pulse encoded signals are multiplexed on a single transmission and demultiplexed and decoded at a remote terminal for distribution to a number of receivers at that location. A similar multiplex system uses a separate return pair of transmitting signals in the opposite direction. The multiplexed signals on each transmission line are framed by means of a framing pulse in each frame having a value which insures a preselected parity for each frame. To make sure that parity discrepancies will exist for other pulse positions even under all "1s" and all "0s" conditions, a second bit position is filled with a randomly-valued bit.
