Abstract:
There is provided methods for increasing a number of media playback devices served by a communications base station. The communications base station may be for transmitting data using a broadcast video band frequency and both transmitting and receiving data using a mobile broadband frequency. The methods enable the communications base station to serve a greater number of media playback devices in the idle mode compared to a lesser number of media playback devices in the active mode. Both the broadcast video band frequency and the mobile broadband frequency may be a data network such as, for example, WiMAX, HSxPA, HSPA+, LTE and so forth.
Abstract:
Implementations of the present invention include a Public Cloud, one or more End-Caches and optionally one or more Edge-Caches in computerized architecture that provides digital content, such as entertainment services and/or informational content, to a guest display (i.e., End-Cache connected to in-room TV). Implementations of the present invention also include a Content Distribution Architecture that uses the public Internet to securely broadcast large digital media file(s) simultaneously to all desired locations (e.g., Edge-Caches). Implementations of the present invention further include a Channel Processor that uses a video-input agnostic approach (i.e., composite, sVideo, component, HDMI) to take whatever video signal (i.e., std-def, high-def) and make it better (i.e., all digital, all high-def quality). Implementations of the present invention therefore improve distribution of entertainment to end users, as well as the playback thereof.
Abstract:
A multi-media communication terminal device includes a first information communication device for communicating the first information at a plurality of communication rates, a second information communication device for communicating the second information different from the first information at a plurality of communication rates a selection device for selecting the information concerning the communication rate to specify the communication rate of the first information, and a control device for selecting the communication rate of the second information based on the communication rate of the first information specified.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and computer readable media for controlling delivery of content are provided. In some embodiments, a system for controlling delivery of content is provided. The system includes processing circuitry configured to: transmit, to a server, a plurality of requests for blocks of the content; while at least some of the plurality of requests are still outstanding: detect a change of a service characteristic of a connection between the system and the server; determine a preferred number of outstanding requests; and cancel at least some of the requests from the plurality that are still outstanding based on the preferred number and a count of the requests from the plurality that are still outstanding.
Abstract:
A method and system for monitoring playing on a screen device, and a storage medium. The method comprises: a web client side acquiring a device identifier of a monitored device, generating a playing monitoring start instruction according to the device identifier of the monitored device, sending the playing monitoring start instruction to a web server side; upon receiving the instruction, the web server side acquiring the device identifier of the monitored device from the instruction, sending the instruction to a screen device side corresponding to the device identifier of the monitored device; the screen device side capturing screen pictures at a preset frequency according to the instruction, to obtain screenshot picture information, sending the screenshot picture information to the web server side; the web server side sending the screenshot picture information to the web client side; the web client side performing displaying according to the screenshot picture information.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for accessing a media stream are presented. In response to a request for a media stream, an individual can be authorized to manipulate the media stream. Once an individual has gained authorization with respect to a media stream's manipulation rights, they are allowed to manipulate the stream. In some embodiments, a provider controls a secure environment to play the stream and enforce the rights.

Abstract:
The present technology relates to a reception apparatus, a reception method, a transmission apparatus and a transmission method in which NRT service is provided in digital broadcasting using an IP transmission method. There is provided a reception apparatus including: a channel selection control unit that performs a channel selection control of channel-selecting digital broadcasting using the IP transmission method; an acquisition control unit that controls acquisition of an application delivered through broadcasting or communication in the digital broadcasting based on signaling information transmitted at a layer higher than an IP layer in a protocol layer of the IP transmission method; and an application execution unit that executes the application acquired. The present technology is applicable to a television receiver, for example.

Abstract:
Techniques described herein include evaluation and management of device hardware, software, and network resources during streaming, downloading, or playback of video resources on client devices from remote locations. Certain aspects relate to evaluating the current resources available at a client device, such as memory, processing capacity, device battery status, network availability and/or network data quotas, in view of a video resource request. Based on the evaluation of the client device's resources, and estimations of the effects that video streaming/downloading and playback may have on the client device's resources, the client device may control, customize, and/or alter the retrieval or playback of requested video resources.
