Abstract:
A thermal transpiration device and method of making the same. The device includes a pair of membranes having predetermined thicknesses in order to provide the device with strength and rigidity. The thickness of a portion of each membrane is reduced in the area where thermal transpiration occurs in order to optimize the effectiveness of the thermal transpiration device without scarifying structural integrity of the device.
Abstract:
A system includes at least one fluid volume in which pressure varies, a retention volume for collecting a liquid used in operating the system; and a pump device in fluid connection with the retention volume and in operative connection with the fluid volume. The pump device includes a housing, a movable pressurizing mechanism within the housing and in fluid connection with the fluid volume, a biasing mechanism in operative connection with the pressurizing mechanism to bias the pressurizing mechanism in a first direction, and a pump volume within the housing. The volume of the pump volume is defined by a position of the pressurizing mechanism, wherein the position of the pressurizing mechanism is controlled by pressure within the fluid volume and the biasing mechanism. The pump device further includes an inlet port in fluid connection with the pump volume and an outlet port in fluid connection with the pump volume.

Abstract:
A heat driven liquid close-loop automatic circulating system is provided. This system circulates the liquid in a close-loop by the collected heat in the loop. The system may operate without external power for the pump. The heat driven liquid close-loop automatic circulating system may employ a modified self-powered pump for heated liquid. The pump includes an airtight container for containing the heated liquid, a inlet and a outlet of the heated liquid, further more the modified self-powered pump has a breathing channel with a liquid vapor condensing and reflux structure. The heat driven liquid close-loop automatic circulating system may be a solar heated liquid close-loop automatic circulating system with a solar heat collector.

An improved vacuum material handler having an onboard drive engine powering a vacuum pump and a hydraulic pump. The vacuum material handler also having a frame with integrated forklift lugs.
Abstract:
A blower assembly including a blower housing having a side wall with a first portion extending from the initial cutoff through an angle of at least 45° or more, the first portion having a radius which is substantially constant or which increases at a relatively small rate. The side wall additionally includes a second portion, extending from the end of the first portion to the outlet, which forms a continuous curve with the first portion and has an increasing radius which is increasing at a larger rate and has a rate of increase that is also increasing with housing angle. The shape of the side wall allows a reduction in the overall size of the blower housing for a given size of impeller.
Abstract:
A microfluidic pump comprising a cylindrical chamber, transfer ports comprising an inlet port and an outlet port positioned on the cylindrical chamber, a magnet member attached outside the cylindrical chamber, a magnetic piston in sliding communication with inner walls of the cylindrical chamber, a magnetic material, and a valve member. The magnetic material self assembles to form a seal plug separating the inlet and outlet port, where the seal plug forms a link between the magnet member and the magnetic piston to rotate the magnetic piston along the inner wall of the cylindrical chamber, where a working fluid suctioned within the cylindrical chamber is discharged at the outlet port during a movement of the magnetic piston from the inlet to outlet port. The valve member positioned at the outlet port prevents the backflow of the working fluid towards the inlet port after the magnetic piston rotates past the outlet port.
Abstract:
A system and method for the packaging of a synthetic jet actuator is disclosed. A synthetic jet actuator is provided that includes a first plate, a second plate spaced apart from the first plate and arranged parallelly thereto, and a housing positioned about the first and second plates and defining a chamber. The housing includes at least one orifice therein such that the chamber is in fluid communication with an external environment. The synthetic jet actuator also includes a mounting mechanism configured to mount the first and second plates within the housing in a suspended arrangement and an actuator element coupled to at least one of the first and second plates to selectively cause deflection thereof, thereby changing a volume within the chamber so that a series of fluid vortices are generated and projected to the external environment out from the at least one orifice of the housing.
Abstract:
Provided is a temperature-sensing piezoelectric dispenser, and more particularly, to a dispenser including a piezoelectric pump dispensing a liquid by using a piezoelectric element as an actuator. According to the temperature-sensing piezoelectric dispenser, a temperature of a piezoelectric actuator is measured and the piezoelectric actuator is cooled based on the measured temperature, thereby accurately controlling a liquid discharged according to an operation of the piezoelectric actuator.
Abstract:
A disc pump valve includes an elliptical pump base having at least one aperture extending through the base. The base comprises a first end wall and a sealing surface. The pump includes an isolator overlying the base and having an isolator valve aperture extending through the isolator at or near the periphery of the isolator and partially overlying a cavity formed by the base to form an outlet. In addition, the disc pump includes a valve flap disposed between the pump base and the isolator. The flap has apertures arranged about its periphery, beyond the periphery of the cavity but underlying an isolator valve aperture. The flap seals against the sealing surface to close the pump outlet and prevent fluid from flowing from the outlet into the cavity and flexes away from the sealing surface to allow fluid to pass from the cavity through the pump outlet.
