    Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems for adding content in a page of an electronic document without moving current content to a next page of the electronic document. A first electronic document, a position information of a page of the first electronic document where a new content need to be added, and at least one of the new content and a second electronic document including the new content are received at an MFD. A required space for adding the new content and an available space between lines of the page are estimated. The available space and the required space are compared to check whether the available space is more than the required space. Based on the comparison, the lines of the page are re-positioned, and the new content is added on the page based on the position information to generate an updated first electronic document including the added new content.

    Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes at least one processor configured to execute processes including: calculating a misalignment amount of each pixel of a reference image relative to a standard image; and combining the reference image converted based on the calculated amount with the standard image. The calculating includes: calculating a projection conversion matrix for each of planes with different misalignment amounts in the reference image; generating a plane map in which the plane to which each pixel of the reference image belongs and the matrix to be applied to each plane are selected based on a difference value between the standard image and each of the alignment images converted from the reference image by using each calculated matrix; suppressing a selection error of the matrix; and calculating the misalignment amount for each of the planes based on the plane map in which the selection error of the matrix is suppressed.

    Abstract: In embodiments of the present invention improved capabilities are described for producing background separated product images for print and on-line display. An image formation system provides lighting of a product to facilitate acquiring images that can be automatically processed to generate high resolution item-only images free of quality defects and imaging artifacts. Image processing programs accurately detect an outline of an item in a set of digital images taken using the image formation system and automatically store processed images in an image library. The images in the library may be repurposed for print, sales display, transmission to a user, on-line customer support, and the like. A user display configured with an adaptable user interface facilitates user interaction with images in the library.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure include methods and systems for altering an orientation of a logical cell at a multi-function device. In one embodiment, before rasterization, a user submits a job having multiple pages and an initial instruction to arrange ‘n’ number of pages on a single medium. Each page has a pre-defined orientation. Another instruction is received to alter a pre-defined orientation of a selected page in the corresponding logical cell. An N-up operation is performed to arrange the ‘n’ number of pages on the single medium. Each page arranged on the single medium represents a logical cell. While performing the N-up operation, the pre-defined orientation of a logical cell corresponding to the selected page is altered. The logical cell with the altered orientation is printed and the remaining logical cells with respective pre-defined orientation are printed on the single medium.

    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image reader unit and a control unit. The image reader unit generates read data. The control unit generates output data of image data cropped from the read data. When cropping a plurality of image data, the control unit sets one side of the read data to a first reference side and sets another side perpendicular to the first reference side to a second reference side, and for each of the plurality of image data, the control unit detects a first distance between the first reference side and the image data in a direction parallel to the second reference side, and a second distance between the second reference side and the image data in a direction parallel to the first reference side, and sets an output order of the plurality of image data based on the first distances and the second distances.

    Abstract: Imaging systems for visual works may be by implemented by a variety of systems, processes, and techniques. In one general implementation, an imaging system for a visual work may include side supports support configured to engage a support surface and support the imaging system thereon. The side supports may include tracks along their longitudinal axes. The system may also include a cross member configured to span between the side supports and engage their tracks. The system may also include a carriage adapted to move along a track of the cross member. The carriage may include a camera mount configured to receive, secure, and position a camera above the visual work to be imaged so that the camera images only a portion of the visual work at a time. The carriage may be moved to successive image acquisition locations at which an acquired image overlaps with the previous image.

    Abstract: The image processing apparatus of the present invention includes: an edge determination unit configured to detect an edge pixel to which a white pixel and a black pixel are adjacent in a first direction in an image in which each pixel is represented as a white pixel or a black pixel; a first detection unit configured to detect a number of consecutive pixels up to the edge pixel in the first direction in the image; a second detection unit configured to detect a number of consecutive pixels whose number of consecutive pixels in the first direction is larger than a first threshold in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction in the image; and a type determination unit configured to determine a type of the edge pixel based on detection results by the first detection unit and detection results by the second detection unit.
