    摘要: A technique is provided for enabling remote testing of a telecommunications service provided by an international gateway switch (12). To accomplish such testing, a test facility (10) associated with the switch includes a DTMF interface (16) for automatically answering an inbound call and for verifying if the caller may access the service for testing purposes. The test facility also includes a signal converter (38) for translating DTMF signals entered during the inbound call to yield an activation sequence of signals for input to the international gateway switch to activate the service offered by the switch for testing purposes.

A logic module causes the switches to assume either a closed or an opened condition in accordance with a predetermined sequence established by a hard-wired program.

    摘要: A testing system, also known as a call generator, generates telephone calls to test telephone equipment. The call generator includes a processor, a memory for storing processor procedures and test cases, and a communication interface. The procedures include a test case procedure for calling a system under test (SUT), interacting with the SUT, and accessing voice mailboxes located in the SUT. The call generator sends messages to the SUT. Then the call generator calls the SUT to once again access the voice mailboxes, and retrieves the stored messages. The call generator compares the retrieved messages with the delivered messages, or parameters representative of the delivered messages, to verify the retrieved messages. The call generator also has the capability to store, communicate, and verify other types of electronic information including facsimiles and electronic mail. The call generator may also operate on a network for communicating test cases and other database information to and from other users. The call generator and method are also applicable to testing private branch exchanges (PBX) and other telephone equipment.

    摘要: A communication service simulator simulates communication service specification for a communication network having terminals and server nodes. The terminals of the communication network are registered in association with terminal data. When a called terminal has not been registered as terminal data during a simulation of a communication service specification, a terminal simulator registers the called terminal and the associated terminal data and displays the terminal data on a screen. A history regenerate/display unit displays on the screen any history of the content of a history storage unit. A simulation process controller copies a simulation process and separately executes and displays each of the processes when there is a branch, etc. in a communication service specification. During a simulation of a communication service specification, a sound output unit outputs a preselected sound from a first group of sounds when a preselected sound from a second group of sounds is received by a terminal specified by the identification information stored in a specified terminal identification information storage unit, and outputs a preselected sound from a third group of sounds, for a moment, in synchronism with the change on the screen of the terminal when the preselected sound from the second group of sounds is received by any terminal.

    摘要: Communications services and circuits are tested by a system which includes a voice response unit (VRU) operating under the control of processes performed in a workstation. The system can automate the various tasks associated with making test calls, such as by initiating one or multiple simultaneous test calls to a customer's telephone number, and then by playing a stored voice message when any of the test calls is answered by customer personnel, or by establishing a voice path that can be used to talk to the customer personnel. The circuits being tested are then monitored by the VRU, which can both detect supervisory signals as well as perform call disposition analysis by detecting ring, ring/no answer, busy, fast busy, tones, or other audible conditions that are indicative of many circuit abnormalities. A display indicates test system status to a technician, including the progress of all test calls as well as information pertaining to the test system itself. The system can be used by several technicians at one time.

    摘要: A method for simulating an IDNX (integrated digital network exchange) network. Trunk and call information is downloaded from a network controller connected to the IDNX network to a personal computer. Call data is obtained defining each call placed over the network. Link data is also obtained describing the links over which the call is placed. The link data is arranged in two arrays, one defining a pointer based on the identity of connected nodes. The pointers point to a table which describes the link interconnecting the nodes. A call circuit table identifies each of the calls over the network. The call is placed on the model by debiting the in use bandwidth field of the table describing each link used in the call. Once calls are placed, an analysis of network performance is possible. Calls may be rerouted over the simulated model to evaluate different network configurations.

    摘要: The central unit (14) comprises a distortion sampler (16) including a spectral sound analyzer and a memory for recording the digital data of at least one reference sound. The central unit by means of the analyzer analyzes a sequence of such sounds which are received by way of the telephone line (11, 13) and makes a comparison with the recorded data. It thus produces a measurement of the frequency response of the transmission, that is to say distortion and attenuation introduced by the telephone connection, in accordance with the various frequencies. The data of that measurement are used by the central unit (14) to compensate for the signals which are successively received by way of the activated telephone connection. The system comprises a portable acoustic device (35) in which the digital data of the reference sound are recorded. That device may be connected to any telephone apparatus (12) of the network and comprises a manual control for triggering transmission to the central unit (14) of the sequence of reference sounds after the telephone connection has been established by means of the telephone apparatus (12 ). The portable device (35) may also have a recording of a code for identifying the user, for example, for use in a vocal postal system. In addition in a system in which the central unit (14) comprises a voice recognition device (17) the portable device (35) may have the recording of a series of phonetic prototypes, or phonemes, which are specific to the particular user, to be transferred to the central unit to improve the quality of recognition of the speech transmitted thereby. Alternatively the phonemes of different users may be recorded in a memory of the central unit (14) and be selected thereby on the basis of identification code.
