Abstract:
A system for exchange and reconditioning of winding or rewinding multi-components shafts associated with a web handling device comprising an omni-directional mobile cart having a plurality of subassemblies thereon for receiving, storing and transfer of one or more clean and/or to-be-reconditioned shafts between the web handling device and a maintenance station wherein a shaft is mounted in similar manner to the mounting of the shaft on the web handling device for disassembly, cleaning, repairing reassembly and storage of the clean shaft on the cart in anticipation for subsequent exchange of such clean shaft for a to-be-reconditioned shaft mounted on the web handling device. In the system, the removal of the to-be-reconditioned shaft from the web handling device, storage of this shaft on the cart and installation of a clean shaft previously stored on the cart are all performed without modification or material repositioning of the cart from its initially established position relative to the web handling device. A method for shaft exchange is disclosed.
Abstract:
A blade is repaired by utilizing a super abrasive machining quill and/or wheel to form the contour and restore the height of the blade. By utilizing super abrasive machining, the contour and height can be quickly returned to desired dimensions by removing unwanted added material.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for mobile repair of a stationary rotor seals of a turbo machine is provided. The method includes the following steps, 3D-scanning of the stationary seal, generation of 3D-model of the stationary seal, removing of the damaged spots of the seal using laser cutting, and generating a new seal at the repair spot by use of a second process head, which generates the seal by laser powder cladding. The apparatus includes a 3D-scanner, a cutting tool, and a first process head and a second process head.
Abstract:
A method for recycling rail is provided wherein the rail is heated, and then slit into two pieces. The two pieces are passed through a single mill pass line such that each piece of the rail is deformed to have a generally uniform shape.
Abstract:
A method of refurbishing components such as brake rotors and drums is disclosed. The method may involve identifying, sorting and cleaning used or worn components. The components may then be blasted with an abrasive material to prepare them for a metal deposition process. Metal may then be added to the components using an arc spray gun, for example. The component may then be cryogenically treated to improve the wear characteristics of the component. The component may then be machined to place the component within a specified configuration. Components may be refurbished repeatedly in this manner so as to utilize resources more efficiently and reduce waste. Moreover, the components may exhibit improved wear characteristics over components manufactured by other methods.
Abstract:
A compressor housing defines an inlet bore having a first inlet collar disposed therein. The inlet collar is connected to the housing with a first plurality of radially extending posts. The first plurality of posts is removed to detach the inlet collar from the housing, and the inlet collar is removed from the housing. The same or another inlet collar is concentrically located within a liner. The liner can be located at a radial distance around at least a portion of the inlet collar. The inlet collar is connected to the liner by radially inserting a second plurality of posts through the liner and into the inlet collar. An assembly of the liner containing the inlet collar is inserted into the inlet bore of the housing such that the inlet collar forms the inducer bore of the compressor housing.
Abstract:
A method of repairing a housing for a machine system includes returning an inner diameter of at least one bearing bore of the housing to a uniform diameter state. The at least one bearing bore is prepared for resurfacing via removing deeply entrapped grease from within pores in cast surface material of the housing subsequent to returning the inner diameter to a uniform diameter state. Subsequent to preparing the at least one bearing bore for resurfacing, it is resurfaced with a material different from cast material of the housing and bonded therewith, for example via thermal spray coating. Resurfacing a cast metallic component, of iron, steel, or the like with metal spray coating may include removing deeply embedded grease from pores of cast surface material of a cast component, in preparation for spraying the cast component with metal spray resurfacing material.
Abstract:
A method for restoring a damaged rail seat located on a concrete rail tie. The method comprises applying a polymeric material comprising a poly(urethaneurea) material to the damaged rail seat located in the concrete rail tie; and restoring the damaged rail seat by cursing the polymeric material under ambient temperature and pressure conditions. The polymeric material is substantially sag resistant and maintains its shape without substantial runoff from the concrete rail tie during the restoring of the damage rail seat.
Abstract:
A gaming system a chair having a base and a mechanical connector mounted to the base, and a gaming machine having a rotary locking mechanism to mate with the mechanical connector of the chair to latch the base to the gaming machine. The gaming machine and base can include an electrical connection.
