Abstract: A segmented, kinetic energy projectile is formed by stacking several liners in a single warhead, for effectively producing a longer penetrator capable of greatly enhancing penetration. Each individual liner forms a separate penetrator, so that the liners are successively fired and allow for a greater overall target penetration. In one embodiment, the flight path of at least one liner is diverted from the flight paths of the other liners, so that the liners could attack several adjacent targets or provide multiple penetrations. The EFP assembly has the additional capability of utilizing a single warhead that incorporates multiple hits mechanisms. The EFP assembly includes multiple liners that are separated by multiple separators. The separators are non-symmetrically disposed relative to each other, in order to divert the liners toward multiple targets. The liners are diverted from a reference trajectory because the separators impart different angles to the liners. Alternatively, the liners can be deviated from the reference trajectory, by varying the densities of the liners, or by varying their thicknesses.

Abstract: A combined effect warhead device for forming at least one aerostable rod fragment and a plurality of small fragments by explosive formation. The warhead is centered about an axis and contains explosives and liners. A first liner forms an aerostable rod and a second liner forms a plurality of fragments, whereby upon detonation of the warhead, combined explosively formed projectiles are produced including the aerostable rod and the plurality of fragments. In a preferred embodiment, the first liner is unscored and curved, whereas the second liner is scored to facilitate formation of the plurality of fragments. The second liner is almost flat and includes raised portions on its surface to facilitate formation of the plurality of fragments. It is also preferred to include an interface material between the first and the second liner, preferably where the interface material is a combination of explosive material and plastic. The first and second liners may be oriented side by side in the warhead, or, more preferably, in tandem in the warhead. The first liner may be axially above the second liner or the reverse. The warhead is either axisymmetric or non-axisymmetric about its axis.

Abstract: A sensor arrangement for target-seeking ammunition which includes an insert for forming a hollow charge, and in front of which there is positioned a transducer for electromagnetic radiation energy. The sensor arrangement of the above-constructional type has the transducer located in the longitudinal axis of symmetry of the ammunition and of the insert. The insert forming the combat charge may itself serve as a focusing reflector for the operating characteristics of the sensor arrangement. Abstract: A method for combating a submerged target object through the intermediary of an active body which is deployable in an airborne mode, and which picks up a sonar contact with the target object from a helically descending searching trajectory below the water level. Abstract: An air delivered armor piercing and anti-personnel munition which includes pair of spin latched overlay hemispherical shells whose outer surface is fluted and which encase the fragmentation grenade munition. One of the shells is affixed to the munition by a lanyard so that when the munition is released it will be caused to spin by the fluted surface which in turn will result in unlatching of the shells and release of one while the other (drag hemisphere) acts to limit the descent velocity and maintains the munition in an upright position. The grenade is provided with spring loaded standoff legs which are retracted when the grenade is within the shell but assume their extended downward position upon release of the outer shells. The shell separation also initiates the arming of the grenade fuze. The interial force generated by the impact impales the grenade firing pin in the detonator thus commencing the detonation train. The grenade includes an outer fragmentation housing which is fragmented by detonation of the internally shaped high explosive charge.
