    摘要: A hub clutch assembly has a cover and a gasket which can be easily mounted to an end of the cover. In a hub clutch assembly in which an end of a wheel hub is closed by a cover tightened with a gasket sandwiched therebetween, the cover is formed with positioning grooves along its inner edge. Along its inner edge, the gasket is formed with positioning claws to be engaged in the grooves and claws to be press-fitted into the cover to prevent the gasket from coming off the cover. The gasket can thus be mounted to the cover simply by inserting the claws into the cover.

    摘要: An integrated wheel end for a vehicle is disclosed. The integrated wheel end has a hub rotatably mounted to a bearing pack. The integrated wheel end is secured to the vehicle by fastening the bearing pack to a knuckle of the vehicle. The integral hub has a spindle portion for receiving an end portion of a drive axle, a clutch housing for receiving a locking clutch mechanism and a flange for the mounting of a brake rotor and a vehicle supporting wheel. A locking hub clutch is mounted in the clutch housing and is selectively operated to provide unity of rotation between the axle and the hub or to provide independent rotation of the axle and the hub. The clutch housing is suited for installing different clutch mechanisms including manually operated and pressure operated either by negative or positive pressure. The integrated wheel end has a sealed defined cavity and an air circuit for the introduction or withdrawal of air to operated the pressure operated clutch mechanisms. A manual override feature may be provided with the pressure operated clutch mechanisms to operate the clutch mechanisms manually in the event of air circuit failure.

    摘要: The device for disconnecting the wheels from a vehicle's optional drive is mounted inside the support of the axle shaft, and the wheel hub is splined onto the axle shaft. The universal joint is diametrically positioned in relation to the support of the axle shaft by a bearing. The universal joint has an internal splined section which corresponds to an internal splined section on the clutch disc for "engage" and "disengage" positions. A fluid responsive actuating device is provided including a movable member in the form of a diaphragm or a piston connected to the clutch disc for axially moving, in response to the pressure or pressure differential from a fluid source to effect the engagement and disengagement of the clutch disc splines in relation to the axle shaft and universal joint splines.

In the transmission of rotary shaft power, a clutch is frequently used for selectively connecting together or releasing a driving member and a driven member. The output requirement of such a clutch can exceed 1000 inch pounds of torque at over 1,000 revolutions per minute Moreover, many such clutches are needed since some industrial type machines might require that many pairs of driving and driven members be selectively connected together, and two or even three clutches might be connected in parallel between each pair for controlled drive of the driven member in either direction or total braking of the same.

Specifically, the outlet passage includes an annular space between the outer periphery of each of the discs and the adjacent interior wall of the hollow body. In a modification, there is not outflow, but only an inlet passage.

    摘要: An improved mounting system for a frictional brake or clutch system facilitates access to working parts for inspection and maintenance. Opposed pairs of sector-shaped bodies carrying friction members operable to contact a relatively rotatable disc are commonly mounted on removable pivot pins. In one embodiment three pivot pins serve to secure three pairs of opposed sectorshaped bodies. The removal of a pivot pin permits the outward rotation of any of the sector-shaped bodies it secures by pivoting the body about another pin so that the working parts may be inspected or repaired without the dismantling of the whole mechanism.
