    Abstract: The construction system of the present invention comprises a plurality of connectors and a plurality of struts, each of the connectors including three discrete flat elements interconnected in three mutually perpendicular planes, each of the three flat elements being composed of a semi-rigid material, each of the three flat elements having a plurality of outwardly directed prongs, and each of the struts being tubes into which the prongs project. The three flat elements are connected by engaging notches and slots. The prongs and the struts are connected by engaging catches and apertures. At least two of the elements have central openings presenting internal profiles and outer peripheries presenting external profiles.

    Abstract: A connector plate for erecting structures of varied configurations. The plate comprises a main body having connections formed thereon by which the ends of six different struts can be connected together in a particular manner to form a cluster, with the number of strut ends of a cluster depending upon the selected function of the cluster respective to the building desired. The connector plate has a plane of symmetry which passes longitudinally through two of the six connections, with the two connections lying in different planes arranged at an obtuse angle respective to one another, and thereby provides attachment means by which a roof strut is connected to a vertical wall strut end. This positions the roof strut at about a fifteen degree roof pitch. There are also two right and two left strut connections lying to either side of the plane of symmetry, with the two right connections lying in the same plane and intersecting one another at a 60.degree. angle to thereby form the apex of a wall triangle. The two left connections are similarly arranged respective to one another. The plane formed by the two right strut connections lies 60.degree. respective to the plane formed by the two left strut connections, thereby providing a cluster for use in a hexagon building having a hexagon roof made of six triangular sections. The connector plate enables the fabrication of walls which have square, rectangular, or triangular wall surfaces.

    Abstract: A structural system and method which utilizes a plurality of three dimensional nodal connectors and one or more struts extending between and secured to the nodal connectors. Each connector is comprised of at least three relatively flat planar plates and preferably, three pairs of relatively flat planar plates which are assembled in three mutually perpendicular planes in space. Each of these plates in each of the three pairs are substantially similar in both size and shape and are uniquely designed so that they are capable of being interfitted in the mutually perpendicular planes. Also each of the struts are substantially similar in both size and shape and may be connected to the nodal connectors at connection regions which are slightly resilient so that the struts are capable of being snap fitted between such plates of each connector and releaseably retained therein.

    Abstract: Interconnecting members are provided for building up geodesic dome-like structures. In a first embodiment, there are provided strut members forming the edges of triangles utilized in the geodesic dome structure and gusset members provided at the vertices of the various formed triangles interconnecting with the ends of the strut members. The ends of the strut members and the gusset members are provided with cooperating integrally formed lip and recess portions arranged to be interlocked together, elastic resiliency of portions of the gusset member being provided to both enable the members to lie at an angle to each other and to be held in their interlocked relationship. In a second embodiment, the members making up the structural enclosure comprise triangular sheets of material, the side edges of the various triangular sheets having a series of projections and recessed generally of T-shaped configurations for interlocking with adjacent side edges of other triangular members, there again being provided resiliency in the T-shapes so that the members can lie at angles to each other and be held in their interlocked relationship by the resiliency involved while building up a geodesic dome structure.

    Abstract: A space frame system built from rectangular tubing comprisingtwo substantially parallel planar chord frames laced together by many diagonal struts. The planar frames are of a rectangular grid pattern, both of the same grid dimensions, each made from continuous chords in one direction and tie chords one grid dimension long in the other direction, all the chords being disposed in one plane without overlap. Each frame has a position aligned with but out of registration with the other by half a grid dimension each way so intersections on one planar frame line up with open centers of the grids on the other. Diagonal struts run from intersections on one planar frame to the nearest intersections on the other. At intersections, the chords and struts are bolted or welded to one or more flat and bent plates. The outermost surfaces of the chords in one planar frame may be left clear of bolts and plates, and skylights may be mounted thereon.
