Abstract:
The present invention relates to a TiO2 pigment coated sequentially in a wet treatment process with hydrous silica and hydrous alumina both in the presence of citric acid wherein the resulting pigment is coated with from 1 to 4% amorphous alumina based on the weight of the untreated TiO2; from 3 to 6% silica glass based on the weight of the untreated TiO2.
Abstract:
Metal oxide particles having a metal oxide core and a silicon dioxide coating have a low structure. The particle are produced by a base dissolved in water being added under agitation to a dispersion comprising a metal oxide, at least one compound of the type XnSi(OR)4−n, and water, the reaction product being separated out, optionally washed with water and dried. The metal oxide particles coated with silicon dioxide may be used in sun screening agents and in chemical-mechanical-polishing (CMP) applications.
Abstract:
A unique treatment for pigments is provided. This treatment, which uses certain organo-acid phosphate molecules, imparts improved physical and chemical qualities including lacing resistance, improved dispersion and decreased chemical reactivity when these treated pigments are incorporated into polymeric matrices.

Abstract:
A method of producing composite particles of titanium dioxide and a compound inactive as a photocatalyst, comprising the steps of preparing a water based slurry of pH 3 to 5 comprising titanium dioxide, preparing a water based solution comprising a compound inactive as a photocatalyst, and reacting the slurry and the water based solution together at a pH within a range from 4 to 10 is provided, together with highly active photocatalyst particles produced using such a method, and potential uses of such photocatalyst particles.
Abstract:
A particulate metal oxide having a mean length of the primary particles in the range from 50 to 90 nm, the mean width of the primary particles in the range from 5 to 20 nm, and the median volume particle diameter of the secondary particles is less than 45 nm. The metal oxide can be used in a sunscreen product that exhibits both effective UV protection and improved transparency.

Abstract:
Anticorrosive white pigments useful for inhibiting corrosion include surface-coated TiO2 base bodies, preferably in the rutile modification, having Mn3(PO4)2 and one or more of the substances chosen from aluminum oxides, aluminum hydroxides, aluminum phosphates, aluminum hydrogen phosphates, aluminum dihydrogen phosphates and aluminum polyphosphates are precipitated on to the TiO2 base bodies. Mn3(PO4)2 may be replaced completely or partially by Zn3(PO4)2. Phosphates and/or oxides of cerium may be additionally deposited singly, or several of them may be deposited, on to the TiO2 base bodies.
Abstract:
Titanium dioxide-calcium carbonate composite particles capable of realizing characteristic properties inherent in titanium dioxide such as a high opacity, a process for producing the same, and a complex composition or complex incorporated with the same are provided. The composite particles were prepared by adding titanium dioxide particles having an average particle diameter of 0.1 to 0.5 nullm in a carbonation step, typically a step of introducing a gaseous mixture of carbon dioxide and air into a calcium hydroxide slurry with stirring, to conduct a carbonation, and continuing the reaction till pH of the slurry becomes 7 by continuous introduction of the gaseous mixture. Moreover, by incorporating the formed composite particles, complexes such as coatings and paints for paper making or composite materials such as paper, plastic molded materials, and rubber molded materials are produced.
