    摘要: A composite, protective fabric, and garments made thereof, are disclosed. The composite fabric has microflex layers of woven para-aramid yarn placed in proximity to metallic mesh layers of woven stainless steel mesh. The individual poly-p-phenylene terephthalamide fibers in the para-aramid yarn have a denier of less than or equal to 2 dtex. The metallic mesh layers are woven from stainless steel fibers having a diameter of 0.2 mm or less and have a mesh aperture of 0.45 mm or less. The garments made using the fabric include glove, bullet proof vests and chain-saw resistant trousers.

    摘要: An air cushion pad includes at least two sheet members, which are made of resilient materials. Each sheet member forms a plurality of hollow tubes projecting therefrom and the tubes are connected to each other by a substantially flat plate. The tubes of one sheet member and the tubes of the other sheet member are alternately fit to each other in an opposing manner to form the air cushion pad. When an external impact force is applied in a top down manner, the air cushion pad absorbs the impact force and undergoes sideways deformation so as to convert the impact force into a transverse to thereby realize shock absorption and eliminate damage caused by downward action of the impact force to provide the function of protection.

    摘要: A method of manufacturing a flexible, impact-resistant material (1) comprises the steps of providing a sheet of a closed-cell foam material (20) and cutting the sheet (20) into a plurality of spaced elements (2). These elements (2) are substantially separated except for connecting portions (7) that connect the elements to neighboring elements such that the elements (2) are joined to define a lattice (6). A first flexible substrate (3; 25) is bonded to one face of the lattice. The connecting portions (7) that connect the elements (2) to neighboring elements are then removed, either with or without removing those portions of the substrate (3) bonded to the connecting portions (7), for example by punching, cutting or laser ablation. A second flexible substrate (27) may be bonded to the opposite face of the lattice either before or after removal of the connecting portions.

    摘要: A hip protector pad absorbs impact energy at a vulnerable area of a greater trochanter of an adult human hip. The pad has a continuous sheet of flexible honeycomb material having faces covered with an optional cover material and a layer of compliant and resilient foam on an inner side and an outer side of the honeycomb material. The pad is flexible to conform to a shape of the hip area. The pad is effective to reduce an impact of a fall of an adult human on the vulnerable area and minimizes the chance of a hip fracture resulting from the fall.
