Abstract:
Methods, devices, and computer program products for synchronization of wireless devices in a peer-to-peer network are described herein. In one aspect, a method for synchronizing a wireless communication apparatus is provided. The method includes initiating a contention based process for transmitting a synchronization message during a discovery time interval of a discovery time period. The synchronization message includes a first timestamp of the wireless communication apparatus. The method further includes selectively transmitting the synchronization message based on a master preference value of the wireless communication apparatus.
Abstract:
Techniques for proving enterprise mode security for relays are disclosed. For example, enterprise mode security based on IEEE 802.1x is provided for relays or other similar devices to extend the coverage of access point hotspots or other similar access point use cases. According to one aspect, a relay incorporates an authentication client associated with an authentication server. According to another aspect, a four address format is employed for tunneling messages via a relay between a station and an access point. According to another aspect, a cryptographic master key associated with an access point and a station is provided to a relay to enable the relay to be an authenticator for the station.
Abstract:
Systems and methods share context information on a neighbor aware network. In one aspect, a context providing device receives a plurality of responses to a discovery query from a context consuming device, and tailors services it offers to the context consuming device based on the responses. In another aspect, a context providing device indicates in its response to a discovery query which services or local context information it can provide to the context consuming device, and also a cost associated with providing the service or the local context information. In some aspects, the cost is in units of monetary currency. In other aspects, the cost is in units of user interface display made available to an entity associated with the context providing device in exchange for the services or local context information offered to the context consuming device.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, and computer program products for optimization of message transmission intervals in a NAN are described herein. In one aspect, a method for discovering a cluster of STA's forming a NAN is provided. The method includes generating a NAN beacon at an access point (AP). The NAN beacon includes timing information for the NAN. The timing information indicates a first time interval when one or more messages can be transmitted within the NAN. The method further includes transmitting the NAN beacon.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, and computer program products communicating discovery information in a wireless neighborhood aware network (NAN). One method includes receiving a message from a neighboring wireless device. The message includes an identifier associated with the neighboring wireless device. The method further includes adding the identifier to a data structure indicative of discovered device identifiers. The method further includes transmitting a message including the data structure indicative of discovered device identifiers.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for detecting and managing the presence of bursty interference on a wireless communication system are disclosed. One aspect of the subject matter described in the disclosure provides a method of detecting the presence of bursty interference on a wireless network. The method includes receiving, at a wireless device, a message from a transmitting device. The method further includes determining whether the message includes errors caused by bursty interference. The method further includes suspending a channel tracking when bursty interference is detected. In an embodiment the method further includes reporting bursty interference to the transmitting device when bursty interference is detected.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, and computer program products for optimization of synchronization message transmission intervals in a peer-to-peer network are described herein. In one aspect, a method for determining an optimized timing for synchronization messages is provided. The method includes receiving clock drift information from other devices on the peer-to-peer wireless communication network. This clock drift information may be used to determine the frequency with which new synchronization messages must be sent in order to keep synchronization error under a certain requirement at other devices, while minimizing the network traffic due to the transmissions of synchronization messages.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, and computer program products for synchronization of wireless devices in an ad-hoc network are described herein. In one aspect, a method for synchronizing a wireless communication apparatus is provided. The method includes generating, at a wireless communication apparatus, one or more messages identifying a second device to generate prospective synchronization messages. In some aspects, the second device is a back-up root device. The method further includes transmitting a synchronization message. In one aspect, a root device for an ad-hoc network is responsible for generating synchronization messages for nodes of the ad-hoc network. The root device also generates and transmits a message which identifies a back-up root device. The back-up root device may assume responsibility for generating synchronization messages for the ad-hoc network in the event that the wireless communication apparatus no longer generates synchronization messages for the ad-hoc network. In an embodiment, the generated message identifying the back-up root device is included in a synchronization message.
Abstract:
In a particular embodiment, a method includes determining, at a first mobile device, a post-discovery communication technique for communicating within a mobile device cluster after a discovery interval. During the discovery interval, a discovery message may be sent. The discovery message indicates the post-discovery communication protocol for communicating within the mobile device cluster after the discovery interval. The discovery message may further indicate a time interval for sending and receiving a paging request. In response to the receipt of the discovery message a second mobile devices may send a paging request, the paging request including a security information request. The method further includes sending from the first mobile device a paging response including security information and exchanging one or more post-discovery communications with the second mobile device using the security information.
Abstract:
In a particular embodiment, a method includes receiving, by a first mobile device, a first discovery message via a network advertisement protocol common to a plurality of mobile devices. The first discovery message includes information specific to a mobile device cluster that is a subset of the plurality of mobile devices. The method further includes using the information to communicate with at least a second mobile device of the mobile device cluster using a second cluster protocol that is different than the network advertisement protocol.
