    Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may measure one or more downlink reference signals using one or more candidate beams in a set of candidate beams to obtain reference signal received power (RSRP) measurements for the one or more candidate beams. The UE may estimate, for each of the one or more candidate beams in the set of candidate beams, a downlink spectral efficiency and an uplink spectral efficiency based at least in part on the RSRP measurements associated with the respective candidate beam. The UE may select a downlink receive beam and an uplink transmit beam based at least in part on the downlink spectral efficiency and the uplink spectral efficiency.     Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless communications system may support adaptive scheduling in idle mode. In some cases, a user equipment (UE) may receive control signaling indicating a first beam sweeping occasion and a first paging occasion within a search time period. The UE may select a first quantity of measurement occasions of the first beam sweeping occasion for monitoring multiple beams. The first quantity of measurement occasions may be based on a channel quality metric observed for a prior beam during a prior beam sweeping occasion. The UE may select a first beam to monitor for a first paging message during the first paging occasion based on respective channel quality metrics observed for multiple beams during the first quantity of measurement occasions. Further, the UE may monitor for the first paging message during the first paging occasion using the first beam.

    Abstract: Techniques and devices for wireless communication are described. A communication device may identify a set of beam level selection parameters. The set of beam level selection parameters may include traffic information, channel information, application information, or any combination thereof. The communication device may select, based on the identified set of beam level selection parameters, a beam level, from a set of beam levels, different from a baseline beam level associated with the wireless communication. The selected beam level may be associated with a number of antenna elements different from a number of antenna elements associated with the baseline beam level. The communication device may perform the wireless communication based on the selected beam level.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for a user equipment (UE) to detect motion of the UE based on a motion sensor, such as an inertial measurement unit (IMU). The UE, based on the detected motion, may trigger a measurement procedure in which measurements of different beams or cells are performed at a greater periodicity than if the motion were not detected. The indication from the motion sensor may indicate that UE acceleration, rotation, orientation, or any combinations thereof, exceeds a threshold and results in the UE switching to a fastest available measurement periodicity. After triggering the fastest available measurement periodicity, the UE may adjust the measurement periodicity based on newly obtained beam measurements and converge to a measurement periodicity based on observed metrics.

    Abstract: A UE may be configured to select narrower or wider beams that may be suitable for use with a current UE mobility, scattering environment, etc. The UE may track changes to an identified beam of a certain width, and so may recover from tracking or other radio link failures by switching to a beam that is spatially adjacent or to a beam of a different width. The UE may identify a first beam associated with a first beam width based on at least one reference signal received by the UE. The UE may further determine a set of beams based on the first beam width that is associated with the identified first beam, and the determined set of beams may include at least one beam corresponding to the first beam width. The UE may further measure respective channel qualities associated with each beam of the determined set of beams.

    Abstract: A wireless communication device can expedite beam scans for beam management. The wireless communication device can perform a beam scan using a first beam reference signal of a synchronization signal block (SSB) and a second beam reference signal associated with a physical broadcast control channel (PBCH) of the SSB. For each synchronization signal block (SSB) index (e.g., transmit beam) monitored by the wireless communication device, the wireless communication device can obtain a respective beam quality metric on each of two or more respective receive beams using at least the first and second beam reference signals.     Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured with one or more parameters to support blockage detection for beamformed communication. The UE may receive a set of reference signals via a receive beam of a beam pair. The UE may detect a condition associated with a measured signal quality of a reference signal of the set of reference signals relative to a filtered signal quality of the set of reference signals. The condition may, in some examples, correspond to a drop of the measured signal quality at least a threshold amount below the filtered signal quality for at least a threshold duration of time. The UE may delete one or more signal quality values from a measurement database of the UE based on detecting the condition. The one or more signal quality values may be associated with the beam pair.
