Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communications, and more specifically to increased diversity for devices with limited communications resources. An example method generally includes transmitting data as a bundled transmission to a device with limited communications resources, the bundled transmission comprising multiple bursts wherein each burst spans a plurality of transmission time intervals (TTIs) and the same data is transmitted in each burst, and taking action to increase diversity (e.g., at least one of spatial diversity, time diversity, frequency diversity, etc.) for the bundled transmission.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may select a coverage enhancement (CE) level based on a coverage limitation. The UE may then receive system information from a base station indicating an index of CE levels and corresponding physical random access channel (PRACH) configurations, and the UE may transmit a random access preamble using the PRACH configuration for the selected CE level. For example, the UE may transmit the preamble based on a frequency offset that corresponds to the selected CE level. In some cases, the UE and base station may also associate groups of preambles with downlink (DL) CE levels. The UE may select a preamble from a group corresponding to a desired DL CE level for a random access response message. The base station may determine the DL CE level based on the group the preamble was selected from and respond accordingly.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for enabling an UE to selecting acknowledgement/non-acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) resources from a subset of a gNB resource pool. The example method may receive, from an gNB, a radio resource control (RRC) configuration indicating a UE-specific resource set that is a subset of a gNB resource pool. The UE may determine one or more ACK/NACK resources from the UE-specific resource set for an upcoming physical uplink control channel (PUCCH). In some aspects, the UE may determine the one or more ACK/NACK resources based on receiving, from the gNB, a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) including a corresponding ACK/NACK resource configuration. In other aspects, the RRC may contain multiple resource subsets and the UE may determine the one or more ACK/NACK resources based on determining a size of a payload for a UCI to be transmitted on the PUCCH. The aspects may thus enable dynamic ACK/NACK resource allocation.

Abstract: Wireless communication devices are adapted to facilitate a random access procedure. According to one example, scheduled entity can transmit a first transmission that is received by a scheduling entity. The first transmission may include a physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble sequence and a first message including information for determining a device-specific network identifier for the scheduled entity. The scheduling entity may transmit a second transmission that is received by the scheduled entity. The second transmission may include information on a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) addressed to the device-specific network identifier for the scheduled entity, and a second message on a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH).
