Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording device includes a magnetic head, a first circuit, and a second circuit. The magnetic head includes a magnetic pole, a first shield, a stacked body provided between the magnetic pole and the first shield, a first terminal electrically connected to the magnetic pole, a second terminal electrically connected to the first shield, and a coil. The first circuit is electrically connected to the first terminal and the second terminal. The second circuit is electrically connected to the coil. The first circuit performs at least a first operation. In the first operation, the first circuit supplies a first current to a current path between the first and second terminals when the second circuit supplies a recording current to the coil. The first current is smaller than a second current. The second current causes an electrical resistance of the current path to oscillate.
Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a magnetic disk device conforming to perpendicular magnetic recording includes a magnetic disk, a recording head, and a controller. The head includes a main magnetic pole, a return magnetic pole, a recording coil, and a conductive member in which end surfaces are connected to opposed surfaces of a write gap which is opposed to a distal portion of the main magnetic pole and a distal portion of the return magnetic pole, and a resistance value varies. The controller applies a current to the recording coil to excite the magnetic flux in the recording operation, and applies a current at a constant voltage to the magnetic circuit via the comductive member.
Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording head includes a magnetic pole, a stacked body, and a first non-magnetic layer. The stacked body includes a first magnetic layer, a second magnetic layer provided between the first magnetic layer and the magnetic pole, and a non-magnetic intermediate layer provided between the first magnetic layer and the second magnetic layer. The first non-magnetic layer is provided between the second magnetic layer and the magnetic pole, and contacts the magnetic pole and the second magnetic layer. The first magnetic layer has a first thickness and a first saturation magnetic flux density. The second magnetic layer has a second thickness and a second saturation magnetic flux density. A second product of the second thickness and the second saturation magnetic flux density is larger than a first product of the first thickness and the first saturation magnetic flux density.

According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording and reproducing device includes a magnetic recording medium, a recording unit, and a reproducing unit. The magnetic recording medium includes a first track including first and second sub-tracks extending in a first direction. The second sub-track is arranged with the first sub-track in a second direction intersecting the first direction. The recording unit records information in the first and second sub-tracks. The reproducing unit reproduces the information recorded in the first and second sub-tracks while opposing the first, second sub-tracks, and a boundary between the first and second sub-tracks. The first sub-track includes first magnetic recording components including first and second components. The second sub-track includes second magnetic recording components including third and fourth components. A first recording symbol is formed of the first and third components. A second recording symbol is formed of the second and fourth components.
Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording head includes a facing surface configured to face a recording medium, a main magnetic pole configured to apply a recording magnetic field to a recording layer of the recording medium, and a high-frequency oscillator disposed near to a trailing side of the main magnetic pole and configured to apply a high-frequency magnetic field to the recording layer. An angle defined between a recording magnetic field applied from the main magnetic pole to the recording medium and the facing surface is 0 to 85° in a region between a trailing side end of the main magnetic pole and a trailing side end of the high-frequency oscillator.

According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording head of a disk drive includes a main pole configured to generate a magnetic field in a direction perpendicular to a recording layer of a recording medium, a write shield magnetic pole opposite to a trailing side of the main pole with a gap, a coil configured to excite a magnetic flux in a magnetic circuit, and a high-frequency oscillator provided between a tip portion of the main pole on a side of the recording medium and the write shield magnetic pole to generate a high-frequency magnetic field. The write shield magnetic pole includes an end face opposite to the high-frequency oscillator and the end face is formed so that a distance from the main pole increases with an increasing distance from the recording medium.
Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording head includes a main pole configured to apply a recording magnetic field to a recording layer of a recording medium, and a high-frequency oscillator disposed adjacent to the main pole and near a air-bearing surface which faces the recording medium. The high-frequency oscillator includes a lower end surface located nearest to the air-bearing surface and an upper end surface located farthest from the air-bearing surface. A length of the lower end surface in a cross track direction is longer than a length of the upper end surface in the cross track direction.
