Abstract: A point-of-sale advertising system for use with a display case having a front glass sheet positioned in front of a cavity for accepting goods, the system containing a transparent LCD positioned behind the front glass sheet, and a plurality of LEDs positioned adjacent to one pair of opposing edges of the LCD and arranged so that light which is emitted from the LEDs is directed backwards towards the cavity. Further embodiments may also contain a door assembly and frame surrounding the front glass sheet and LCD, a switch positioned to determine when the door assembly is open or closed, and electrical circuitry adapted to turn off the LEDs when the door is open and turn on the LEDs when the door is closed.

Abstract: A system for controlling the transparency of a display case having a door is disclosed. A transparent electronic display is positioned within the door, a controller is electrically connected to the electronic display and configured to track the present time, a network connectivity device is in electrical connection with the controller and communication with a communications network, and a remotely located user interface receives user input through the communications network. The user input is used to generate the transparency data, which is used by the controller to drive the electronic display at various transparency levels.

Abstract: An apparatus for presenting an image on a mirrored display includes an electronic display having backlight and a viewing area. A cover glass has a surface area is positioned in front of and substantially parallel with the electronic display such that the surface area substantially covers the viewing area. A reflective layer located on and substantially coextensive with said cover glass is partially silvered where the reflective layer is located above the viewing area and substantially fully silvered on the remaining surface thereof.

Abstract: An electronic display assembly for an electronic display includes a front panel having a perimeter and a housing. An ingestion gap ingests, and an exhaustion gap exhausts, open loop fluid. The ingestion and exhaustion gaps are each located along a vertical and horizontal portion of the perimeter. A channel is positioned behind the electronic display. A fan causes the open loop fluid to flow from the ingestion gap through a first gas pathway to the channel and from the channel to a second gas pathway and out the exhaustion gap.

Abstract: A system and method for altering the characteristics of a display based on environmental data is disclosed. Exemplary embodiments provide a light sensor, an environmental processing unit which is adapted to receive electrical signals from the light sensor and generate an environmentally-reactive control signal (Sa), an image signal processor which accepts Sa and an encoded image signal (Se) and generates a pre-decoding image signal (Sp), and an image signal decoder which accepts Sp and generates a decoded image signal for the display. The environmentally-reactive control signal (Sa) may contain the instantaneous value of the desired display black level Sb. Alternatively or additionally, the environmentally-reactive control signal (Sa) may contain a signal linearity modification value.

Abstract: A system and method for preventing image retention in an electronic display. A time threshold (TT) and a pixel threshold (PT) may be defined. The system preferably performs a checksum calculation of all pixel data within an active image area of the electronic display for an interval of time until reaching TT. The system may then compare the checksum calculation for each interval of time to determine if the change in pixel data is less than PT. Preferably, the system will perform an image retention prevention method for the active image area if the change in pixel data is less than PT. Generally, this is performed by transmitting alternate pixel data to the electronic display.

Abstract: A pair of electronic displays are placed back to back and are configured for mounting to a vehicle. A pair of thermal plates are located behind the electronic displays and a pair of transparent plates are located in front of the electronic displays. A closed loop of air travels vertically through the space between the electronic displays and transparent panels and through a closed loop plenum. An open loop of air travels horizontally through the space between thermal plates and the rear surface of the electronic displays.

Abstract: A system and method for mounting an electronic display is disclosed herein. A rear cover mounting bracket may contain a rear plate and a sidewall which surrounds a perimeter of the plate. A plurality of mounting holes may be placed within the plate to allow fastening the rear plate to a vertical surface. An electronic display assembly module may contain a thermal plate where the attachment of the rear cover mounting bracket to the module creates a plenum which can house one or more electronic components. In a preferred embodiment, the rear plate contains a pair of hooks and the module contains a pair of corresponding cylinders which can be engaged with the hooks so that the module can hang from the hooks.

Abstract: The embodiments herein provide a device for sealing an interface having an opening for a wire to pass through the interface. A pair of sealing blocks may be used where one block contains a protrusion and the opposing block contains a recess. The protrusion and recess preferably have an apex with a round having approximately the same dimension as the radius of the wire. A pair of posts may be positioned on opposing sides of the opening. One sealing block may contain an aperture for accepting one of the posts while the second sealing block may contain an aperture for accepting the opposing post. The posts may be threaded so that they can accept a threaded fastener. Exemplary embodiments may utilize mounting plates which may contain a flange such that squeezing the opposing flanges together can cause inward forces on the sealing blocks.

Abstract: A transparent electronic display assembly is disclosed. The assembly comprises an electronic display and a light guide placed behind the electronic display. The assembly preferably has a front bracket that contacts the front surface of the light guide and a rear bracket that contacts the rear surface of the light guide. The electronic display may be adhered to the brackets. While the light guide may be constrained from movement towards or away from the electronic display by the front and rear brackets, the light guide is generally permitted to move and thermally expand parallel to the electronic display.
