    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive downlink control information within a control resource set (CORESET) configured with a wideband demodulation reference signal (DMRS) and including disjoint segments of resource blocks (RBs). The downlink control information may be located at least partially within a first segment of the disjoint segments and a second segment of the disjoint segments may be exclusive of the downlink control information. The downlink control information may include a grant of a set of resources for a downlink shared channel that overlaps with the CORESET. The UE may determine a rate matching operation for the wideband DMRS for a downlink shared channel for portions of the set of resources that overlap with the second segment of the disjoint segments, and receive the downlink shared channel on the set of resources according to the determined rate matching operation.

    Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to communicating in a frequency spectrum using interlaced frequency channels and non-interlaced frequency channels are provided. A first wireless communication device selects a waveform structure between an interlaced frequency structure and a non-interlaced frequency structure for communicating in a frequency spectrum. The first wireless communication device communicates, with a second wireless communication device in the frequency spectrum, a communication signal based on the selected waveform structure. The interlaced frequency structure includes at least a first set of frequency bands in the frequency spectrum, the first set of frequency bands interlacing with a second set of frequency bands in the frequency spectrum. The non-interlaced frequency structure includes one or more contiguous frequency bands in the frequency spectrum.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for aggregating random access requests across two or more physical random access channel (PRACH) occasions. Poor channel quality may inhibit the receipt of random access requests, and for user equipments (UEs) located in areas with relatively poor coverage, such aggregated random access requests may have an increased likelihood of successful receipt at a base station. The base station may configure a number of PRACH occasions to be available for aggregation of random access requests. A UE may receive PRACH configuration information from the base station, may aggregate a random access request across two or more PRACH occasions using the PRACH configuration information, and may transmit the aggregated random access request via the PRACH occasions. The base station may also configure one or more PRACH occasions to have a smaller subcarrier spacing for transmission of a random access request.

    Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to medium access in a shared radio frequency band with long-term sensing for exception to medium access restriction are provided. A wireless communication device performs channel measurements in a shared radio frequency band during a plurality of measurement occasions spaced apart in time, the performing the channel measurements being based on a plurality of spatial directions. The wireless communication device determines whether the channel measurements satisfy a criterion for accessing the shared radio frequency band without a medium access restriction. The wireless communication device transmits, in a first spatial direction, a first communication signal in the shared radio frequency band without the medium access restriction in response to determining that the channel measurements satisfy the criterion, the plurality of spatial directions including the first spatial direction.

The method includes receiving a transmission from a first wireless device at a second wireless device, the transmission including a first coexistence preamble configured to reserve a channel of a shared radio frequency band for a first period of time, a first segment, and a second segment, where the first coexistence preamble comprises an initial channel reservation sequence and a data field indicating information about the first period of time; and transmitting, during a gap period between the first segment and the second segment, a receiver protection signal from the second wireless device, the receiver protection signal including a second coexistence preamble configured to reserve the channel of the shared radio frequency band for a second period of time associated with the second transmission segment.

    Abstract: A method of wireless communication includes receiving, by a user equipment (UE) from a base station, downlink transmissions, and performing, by the UE, a listen before talk (LBT) procedure in an LBT occasion provisioned, by the base station, for the UE immediately prior to an uplink transmission that includes an acknowledgement of a downlink transmission. The method also includes transmitting, by the UE to the base station, the uplink transmission based on results of the LBT procedure. In another aspect, a method of wireless communication includes provisioning, by a base station for all served UEs, are LBT occasion immediately prior to an uplink transmission by the UEs. The uplink transmission includes an acknowledgement of a downlink transmission. The method additionally includes transmitting, by the base station to the UEs, downlink transmissions, and receiving, by the base station, the uplink transmission.
