Based on a user's search query, a search result (such as a sponsored search result) can appear within a graphical user interface (GUI) of a client-side application, and the client-side application can provide a mechanism for user interaction with the search result. The GUI of the client-side application can be a page view of a web browser. The mechanism of the client-side application can occur within the same page view as the search result. For example, the mechanism can include a sub-GUI that extends out from the search result on the same page view as the search result. Also, the search result and/or the sub-GUI can be monetized.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for searching of information regarding persons or to provide assistance for completion during address input. In one embodiment, a method includes automatically generating profiles for persons identified in messages, such as outgoing emails. Based on how the addresses of the persons are used in outgoing messages, the relevancy scores of the addresses are determined. When a user is searching for information or typing an address, the profiles and the relevancy scores are used to identify and sort search results or suggestions for the completion of the address input.

Techniques are provided for improving the speed and accuracy of analytics on big data using theta sketches, by converting fixed-size sketches to theta sketches, and by performing set operations on sketches. In a technique for performing a set operation, two sketches are analyzed to identify the maximum value of each sketch. The maximum values of the two sketches are compared. Based the comparison, one or more values are removed from the sketch whose maximum value is greater. After the removal, a set operation (e.g., union, intersection, or difference) is performed based on the modified sketch and the unmodified sketch. A result of the set operation is a third sketch, which may be used to estimate a cardinality of the larger data sets that are represented by the two input sketches.

Techniques are provided that include obtaining a Document Object Model of an HTML document. A configuration XPath is obtained identifying, as of a configuration time, a node within the Document Object Model as a native advertisement placement candidate container. Additional information is obtained regarding native advertisement placement candidate containers within the Document Object Model, and an injection XPath, identifying a node within the Document Object Model as a native advertisement placement candidate container, is generated at an injection time, subsequent to the configuration time, based on the configuration XPath and the additional information. The additional information may include information regarding at least one of a title element, description element and image element identified by a user as being associated with native advertisement placement candidate containers. Generating the injection XPath may include removing a numerical identifier from one or more tags of the configuration XPath.

A method for adjusting delivery of electronic advertisement to a user device. The method comprises receiving a request for an electronic advertisement asset, where the request includes one or more indicators associated with at least one of the user device and at least one network condition in relation to the user device and determining a modality of delivery of the electronic advertisement asset based on the one or more indicators. The method further comprises transmitting the electronic advertisement asset in the determined modality to the user device in response to the request.

Briefly, embodiments of methods and/or systems of computation via array decomposition are disclosed. For one embodiment, as an example, a system may be capable of implementation of an advertising audience overlap analysis dashboard in which for an audience exceeding 100 million users and exceeding 10,000 user groups. Such a system embodiment, for example, may be capable of computing an exact count of user overlap among the user groups in less than two hours.

Embodiments are directed towards modifying a distribution of writers as either a push writer or a pull writer based on a cost model that decides for a given content reader whether it is more effective for the writer to be a pull writer or a push writer. A cache is maintained for each content reader for caching content items pushed by a push writer in the content writer's push list of writers when the content is generated. At query time, content items are pulled by the content reader based on writers a content reader's pull list. One embodiment of the cost model employs data about a previous number of requests for content items for a given writer for a number of previous blended display results of content items. When a writer is determined to be popular, mechanisms are proposed for pushing content items to a plurality of content readers.
