A roll clearance is adjusted according to a sheet thickness by displacing the main roll up and down. A release device that temporarily releases a sheet material having been interposed by the both rolls just before the sheet material is subjected to press working by the press apparatus includes a sub-roll guide that can move up and down together with the sub-roll, a rectilinear cam, and cam followers for engagement with a cam surface of the rectilinear cam, and the release device moves the rectilinear cam axially of the sub-roll in synchronism with the operation of the press apparatus to thereby displace the sub-roll up and down through the cam followers and the sub-roll guide.

    摘要: A feed mechanism feeds sheet material sequentially on demand to a take-up mechanism of processing machinery. The feed mechanism has a feed table with a gate. Sheets may be stacked against the gate, which allows only the lowermost sheet to pass therebeneath. Rollers within the surface of the table are rotatably driven to advance the lowermost sheet beneath the gate to the take-up mechanism. A restraining device prevents freewheeling over run of the rollers. The sheets may be longer in length than the circumference of a tool-carrying roll set used to process the sheet. The difference is accommodated by transferring sheet feed through the nip between the tool set and a separate servo-controlled drive upstream of the nip.

    摘要: Stock material is supplied to a machine press by a coiled material supply apparatus which utilizes a damped follower loop control system for distributing loop reaction among two separate loops so as to reduce coil material slippage and deformation caused by high material acceleration and deceleration forces caused by an intermittent feed device. Coiled material is advanced into a coil straightener section via feed rollers and is then advanced into an intermediate damped follower drive roller section, which advances the stock material toward the intermittent feed device. An electronic controller monitors loop and press positions and generates drive signals for controlling the feed rollers, the damped follower drive rollers and the intermittent feed device to maintain optimum velocity profiles of the coil material stock being advanced at each drive roller section. By more evenly distributing the loop reaction associated with the intermittent feed device, the effects of high material acceleration and deceleration, material slippage and deformation, are lessened.

    摘要: For the initial operation or changeover of a can body welding machine, a modular stack magazine to guide and hold a stack of blanks has adjustable stack supports with holding surfaces projecting under the lowermost blank. These stack supports are adjustably mounted on a frame which is releasably connected to a blank separating device. To assist the destacking of individual blanks, adjustable spreading air feed elements are also fitted to the frame. These adjustable components together with the frame form an exchangeable module, so that once their settings have been carried out--the setting operations being inherently complex, because as they are governed by many other parameters besides size of blank they have to be arrived at empirically, and they must be made all over again if just one of those parameters is altered--the module can be stored ready for reuse after maintenance operations, or after the use of another module.

    摘要: An apparatus for measuring and controlling lengths of movement of a continuous stock material strip which is intermittently fed by feed rollers along a predetermined path of travel to a machine which includes a reciprocally operable carriage having tooling for acting upon the strip. The apparatus comprises a strip measuring mechanism for engaging with and sensing a length of movement of the strip and generating a first signal representative of the length of movement of the strip. A controller receives the first signal from the strip measuring mechanism, and comparing the first signal to a second signal representative of a predetermined desired length of movement of the strip. The controller generates a shut-down signal to the machine if the difference between the first and second signals exceeds a predetermined shut-down limit range and generates a length error signal representing the difference between the first and second signals. A bridge mechanism is connected to the controller and can be manually or automatically controlled for adjusting the succeeding lengths of movement of the strip based upon the length error signal.

    摘要: A roller guide system which includes at least a pair of rollers for feeding strips of material between predetermined maximum and minimum thicknesses therebetween is rotatably driven by means of a gear train. The rollers are rotatably mounted on upper and lower housing frames respectively for rotation about first and second parallel axes. The upper frame is slidably mounted on the lower frame for vertical movement relative thereto. Each of the rollers has a spur gear attached thereto for rotation along with its associated roller about said first and second axes, respectively, these gears being interconnected by intercoupling gearing. The center of the gear attached to the roller mounted on the upper frame is at the same level as the center of the gear which drives this gear when feeding strips of an intermediate thickness between said maximum and minimum thicknesses. The vertical spacing between the rollers automatically adjusts in response to the thicknesses of the strips of material fed therebetween by virtue of slideable vertical motion between the frames, the gears being minimally unmeshed with such motion.

A first adjusting device with first and second links coupled to the first and second adjusting arms moves portions of the first roll and first brake piece located next to first and second arms towards or away from the second roll and the second brake piece by pivoting these arms. Third and fourth links coupled to the third and fourth arms move portions of the first brake piece located next to third and fourth arms with respect to the second brake by pivoting these arms. A second adjusting device moves the first roll and the first brake piece in parallel with respect to the second roll and second brake piece by pivoting the pivot body.
