摘要： A backwash header for a cloth filter includes a body having a length, a diameter, first and second ends, a longitudinal axis, and an exterior surface, the body defining at least one internal cavity. The body includes at least one suction slot sized to allow fluids and solids to enter the internal cavity from outside of the exterior surface. A structure is attached to a portion of the exterior surface of the body around and extending away from the suction slot to form an open-ended chamber defined by the structure and a portion of the exterior surface near the suction slot. The structure allows fluids and solids to enter the open-ended chamber and then the suction slot and cavity from a material being cleaned. Cloth filters and methods of treating water and wastewater using the backwash headers and cloth filters.

摘要： A cylindrical tumbler has a plurality of angled slots positioned about its periphery, the leading edge face of each slot forming an angled impeller vane. When the tumbler is placed on an intake plug and suction applied through the plug, the tumbler spins throwing off any debris which may otherwise accumulate on the strainer. In alternate embodiments, lengths of flexible strand can be attached to the periphery of the tumbler or two tumblers with oppositely angled slots, and hence, opposite spin directions can be positioned on the same plug to increase turbulence and further reduce debris accumulation.

When the distensible member is distended, the fibres are compressed to form a graduated filter matrix. An additional filter medium is introduced into the inlet end and becomes trapped in the fibres for further filtration of the fluid.

The back washing is performed preferably by means of a suction bar 13, which at the same time acts mechanically on the pile threads, in order to promote an abrupt straightening of the pile threads at the time of back washing and the flattening of the pile threads after the back washing.

摘要： Apparatus for continuous filtration of a fluid, for example water containing solids, comprising a plurality of filter cells partially filled with mobile filtering material, each cell having an inlet and an outlet, means being provided for continuously supplying fluid to the inlets, a drain element for filtered solids being connectible to a limited number of cell inlets without interrupting the fluid supply to the other cell inlets, the drain element lowering the fluid supply pressure prevailing at the limited number of cell inlets to a value lower than the filtrate pressure prevailing at the cell outlets so that these cells are backwashed with filtrate such that the mobile filtering material only partially filling the cells is swirled in the turbulent filtrate flow within the cells and is thoroughly cleaned from adhering solids.
