Abstract:
A method and computer program product for reflowing a PDL page without using the original application used to create the PDL page. The method and computer program product include receiving a page represented in a page description language, the page including a plurality of page objects, and changing one or both of a size of the page and a size of one or more of the page objects, while maintaining spatial relationships between the page objects.

Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for translating text fragments displayed on a screen from an input language into an output language and displaying the result. Translation may use electronic dictionaries, machine translation, natural language processing, control systems, information searches, (e.g., search engine via an Internet protocol), semantic searches, computer-aided learning, and expert systems. For a word combination, appropriate local or network accessible dictionaries are consulted. The disclosed method provides a translation in grammatical agreement in accordance with grammatical rules of the output language in consideration of the context of the text.
Abstract:
A system and method for facilitating the processing of an expansion list. A script associated with an HTML document performs actions to process the expansion list. Actions include detaching the list of input controls from the HTML DOM when the list is not displayed and reattaching the list when it is displayed. Actions may also include maintaining the value of each input control, and processing each input control selection to update the value. The script may send value data to a server using a technique such as a hidden field or another element in the HTML DOM.
Abstract:
To perform a sort operation on a spreadsheet table, data items in the spreadsheet table are divided into a plurality of blocks. Multiple threads are then used to sort the data items in the blocks. After the data items in the blocks are sorted, multiple threads are used to merge the blocks into a final block. The final block contains each of the data items in the spreadsheet table. A sorted version of the spreadsheet table is then displayed. Data items in the sorted version of the spreadsheet table have the same order as an order of data items in the final block.

Abstract:
To provide a display device for enabling preferable Japanese hyphenation while suppressing restriction due to a character code system. A font data memory unit stores font data which contains a plurality of font records each containing font information for displaying a character and line feed control information for controlling line feed conducted before and/or after the character. A character string display unit displays a character string based on the font information relevant to all or some of the plurality of font records. A line feed control unit determines a line feed position in the character string being displayed by the character string display unit based on line feed control information relevant to characters included in the character string.
Abstract:
A handheld electronic device includes a reduced QWERTY keyboard and is enabled with disambiguation software. The device provides output in the form of a default output and a number of variants. The output is based largely upon the frequency, i.e., the likelihood that a user intended a particular output, but various features of the device provide additional variants that are not based solely on frequency and rather are provided by various logic structures resident on the device. The device enables editing during text entry and also provides a learning function that allows the disambiguation function to adapt to provide a customized experience for the user. The disambiguation function can be selectively disabled and an alternate keystroke interpretation system provided.
Abstract:
Tools and techniques are described for providing multi-lingual word hyphenation using inductive machine learning on training data. Methods provided by these techniques may receive training data that includes hyphenated words, and may inductively generate hyphenation patterns that represent substrings of these words. The hyphenation patterns may include the substrings and hyphenation codes associated with characters occurring in the substrings. The methods may receive induction parameters applicable to generating the hyphenation patterns, and may store the hyphenation patterns into a language-specific lexicon file. These methods may also receive requests to hyphenate input words that occur in a human language, and may evaluate how to process the request based on the language. The methods may search for hyphenation patterns occurring in the input words, with the hyphenation patterns being stored in the lexicon file. Finally, the methods may respond to the request, indicating whether the hyphenation patterns occurred in the input words.
Abstract:
In view of the foregoing, an improved handheld electronic device includes a keypad in the form of a reduced QWERTY keyboard and is enabled with disambiguation software. As a user enters keystrokes, the device provides output in the form of a default output and a number of variants from which a user can choose. The output is based largely upon the frequency, i.e., the likelihood that a user intended a particular output, but various features of the device provide additional variants that are not based solely on frequency and rather are provided by various logic structures resident on the device. The device enables editing during text entry, and when initiating an activity session on a word such as during editing, the display outputs variants of the entire word being edited, rather than providing as variants only those parts of a word that are being edited. The device also provides a learning function that allows the disambiguation function to adapt to provide a customized experience for the user. In certain predefined circumstances, the disambiguation function can be selectively disabled and an alternate keystroke interpretation system provided.
