Abstract:
There is a time delay between the moment of fuel injection and the moment when air with the injected fuel is drawn into cylinders. At the time of fuel injection, air-mass that will be drawn into cylinders after the delay time is estimated on the basis of expectation values of throttle opening, air-mass drawn into an intake-manifold, and intake-manifold pressure. Fuel amount is in turn calculated based on the estimated air-mass.
Abstract:
When the position of a throttle valve approaches a target value, an integration calculation of position control is stopped. When a deviation from the target value increases, the integration calculation is restarted. If an integration value includes no frictional amount, a motor output in which a motor and a spring are matched is set synchronously with a change in target value.
Abstract:
A servo motor operated rotary air throttle has a driving member connected to the throttle shaft. The motor rotor is connected to the driving member in a lost motion connection. If the throttle is lodged due to ice formation, the motor rotor acquires rotary momentum relative to the driving member during the lost motion rotation and a projection on the rotor impacts the end of a slot in the driving member to impart a momentum pulse to the driving member and throttle shaft and dislodge the throttle.
Abstract:
A speed adjusting system for vehicles includes an accelerator, such as a throttle pedal, a speed adjusting device, such as a throttle or a fuel injection pump, which is adjustable by operating the accelerator, and a control unit which is connected to the accelerator and which is settable between a first operating position, in which the accelerator is operable without difficulty, and a second operating position, in which the accelerator is operable with difficulty. The second operating position constitutes a basic state of the control unit, the difficulty, with which the accelerator is operable when the control unit is arranged in the basic state, appearing as a resistance which is generated by the control unit and acts on the accelerator and which must be overcome for operating the accelerator and which clearly exceeds the resistance that exists for operating a conventional accelerator. The control unit comprises a drive, the drive, on activation, being adapted to counteract the resistance, which control unit will thus be arranged in its first operating position by activating the drive. The invention also relates to a control-unit which can be arranged in such a system, and a method for adjusting the speed of a vehicle.

Abstract:
A throttle body (10) with a housing (12) comprising a housing cover (17) and a housing body (14) and with a through throttle aperture (20) for a throttle butterfly (26) arranged on a throttle-butterfly shaft (22), the throttle-butterfly shaft (22) being drivable as a function of specifiable parameters by means of an electronic system (56) arranged in the housing (12) by an electric actuator (32) likewise arranged in the housing (12) and having an actuator shaft (28), the position of the throttle-butterfly shaft (22) being detectable by means of a position detection device (70) arranged in the housing (12), is to have a particularly small space requirement and, at the same time, a contactless position detection device (70) for the throttle-butterfly shaft (22). For this purpose, the electronic system (56) for the electric actuator (32) is arranged in the housing cover (17), and the position detection device (70) comprises a Hall-effect magnet (76) arranged on the actuator shaft (28) and a Hall-effect sensor (72) arranged directly next to the Hall-effect magnet (76) for the purpose of detecting the position of the throttle-butterfly shaft (22).
Abstract:
An intake throttling device adapted to a Diesel engine includes an intake pipe for connection to an intake manifold of the engine, a throttle valve arranged within the intake pipe, and an actuator operatively connected to the throttle valve and arranged to be deactivated to fully open the throttle valve during normal operation of the engine, to be rendered in its first activated condition to adjust the opening angle of the throttle valve during idling operation of the engine, and to be rendered in its second activated condition to fully close the throttle valve when the engine is arrested or immediately before the engine is arrested.
