Abstract: The elongated box frame structure of the present invention comprises a plurality of frame segments attached to at least one end piece. Preferably, two end pieces are attached, one at each end of the plurality of frame segments. The plurality of frame segments are attached to the end piece such that a column-like structure is formed. The inner space defined within the frame segments can be substantially free of webbing. Structural strength and stability is generally achieved by the bridging support of the attached end pieces.

Abstract: A universal connector that facilitates quick assembly and disassembly of substantially the same and/or different member trusses at substantially the same and/or different angles, one from the other, and which may vary from installation to installation. Abstract: A strong, light-weight steel structure which consists of individual tubular and bent-plate channel modules which are packaged and shipped loose and which are assembled by the user or a contractor to form a vault or enclosure, preferably rectangular in shape, with a lockable access door. The tubular and channel modules are designed and shaped for assembly within an existing structure and can in fact, be assembled entirely from the inside without access to the outside of the structure so that the system can be installed in an existing enclosure of the same size and shape as the assembled vault. The modules can be screwed or bolted together from the inside so as to form a steel beam structure of substantial strength. The structure can provide protection for occupants against collapse or disintegration of a building structure because of wind storms, tornados, seismic events, and the like.

Abstract: A connector assembly for connecting and locking tubular elements in preselected angular relationships. The connector assembly includes a pair of clevis having tube engaging elements at one end and three clevis rings at the other. The clevis rings of each clevis are interengaged and define a bore. The bore has a plurality of grooves therein. Locking elements, including a locking pin and a locking plug are inserted in the bore. The locking pin and locking plug each have a pair of opposed raised ribs and a pair of opposed resilient locking arms that engage the grooves in the bore. Detents on the ends of the resilient arms engage a space between the interengaged clevis rings to secure the locking elements in place. The tubular elements can be interconnected in a system of frames to suspend function and decorative panels.

Abstract: A frame assembly, such as for an awning or canopy, includes a master rib having identical keyways running the longitudinal length of the rib. Each keyway is defined by an opposing pair of sidewalls extending lengthwise in the longitudinal direction. The sidewalls are each formed integrally with a plurality of threadlines extending in the longitudinal direction which face opposite from and are offset in the depthwise direction by a given pitch from those of the other sidewall, so as to form threadable surfaces for a screw to be threaded therein. A cleat member has a body portion with a depthwise bore so that a threaded screw can be inserted depthwise and project from its lower end into the keyway and the master rib. The cleat member can be fastened to the master rib at any position along its longitudinal length. The cleat member preferably has a mating cleat which projects from the lower end into the keyway, or brackets against the sides of the master rib wall, so as to guide and hold the cleat member firmly in position. The cleat member can then be fastened to a lateral arm, cross rib, angle rib, hinged member, or other frame part. The frame assembly is used to construct an awning support system or a canopy system without any need for welding at the installation site, and can be readily disassembled and reassembled. In a further embodiment, the keyway is provided with smooth walls and a self-tapping or similar screw forms threads in the walls as the screw is advanced into the keyway.

Abstract: A connector for connecting the open terminal ends of two pipes. The connector includes a first and a second generally half circular partial bush each having an end which extends into one of the pipe terminal ends. A bolt tightened through one partial bush presses against the facing abuttable surface of the other partial bush to press the other partial bush outwardly causing the partial bushes to frictionally engage in the pipe ends. The bolt preferably extends non-radially along a chord of the circle defined by the bushes. Protrusions axially spaced from the bolt at the facing surfaces of the partial bushes helps distribute the pressing force of the partial bushes to both pipe terminal ends.

Abstract: A tube connector includes a pair of matching press members, each having an enlarged exposed portion and at least two angularly spaced insert portions extending from the exposed portion. The insert portions of one press member form cylindrical members with the insert portions of the other press member. Abstract: A tubing connector enables an attachment tube to be selectively and removably connected to the side of a base tube. A tubular support member is affixed to the base tube and projects therefrom. A clip is mounted to one wall of the support member, and has an aperture therethrough which is threaded to receive a set screw. A slot in the wall of the support member allows the set screw to pass therethrough. The set screw is of a length which will extend across the interior of the support member so as to contact the opposite wall when rotated in a clockwise fashion. The attachment tube is connected to the support member by sliding the attachment tube thereover. The attachment tube has an aperture aligned with the set screw to allow access thereto. Clockwise rotation of the set screw will expand the support member by pushing outwardly on the wall with the clip on it and the wall opposing the clip, thereby causing frictional contact with the attachment tube. A second embodiment of the invention utilizes a support tube which has a threaded aperture in place of the removable clip of the first embodiment. Rotation of the set screw forces the opposite walls of the support member apart so as to cause frictional contact with the interior of the attachment tube and firmly hold it in place.
