    摘要: This disclosure relates to a marine propulsion system including a double propeller. To obtain a forward thrust, the two propellers are driven in opposite directions while producing forward propulsion forces. To obtain a rearward thrust, only one propeller is driven in the direction to produce a rearward force. The two propellers are attached to coaxial inner and outer horizontal shafts. A single vertical shaft is coupled by bevel gears to the shafts, and movable clutches couple the driving force to the horizontal shafts.

    摘要: A spider differential assembly (7) of a marine drive is constructed so that the spider (16) and its associated spider pinion gears (20) can float in all directions, except about the common central axis (5) of the propeller drive shafts (4, 8). More particularly, a spider is provided with a central hub opening (18) through which the main drive shaft passes. A plurality of radially extending spindles (19) carry the spider gears and extend outwardly where they terminate in an enclosure (30, 31) arranged to prevent circumferential spider movement about the common drive shaft axis, but which permits free spider floating.

    摘要: A two-stage axial flow steering and propulsion device has impellers operable by a right-angle reversible drive mounted on a watercraft, and a housing surrounds the blades of the impellers. The housing is mounted for rotation in opposite directions about an axis intersecting with and perpendicular to the blades' rotational axis. The device is therefore capable of a wide range of watercraft steering and propulsion maneuvers. A shroud structure in the form of a venturi-type ring surrounds each of the impellers thereby defining three separate pressure regions of positive pressure ahead of one of the impellers which pulls the fluid when rotating in one direction, a negative pressure between the impellers and a negative pressure behind the other impeller which pushes the fluid when rotating in such one direction.

    摘要: An all gear drive mechanism for boats comprising a train of gears loosely mounted on a horizontal idler shaft mounted at opposite ends in a stationary housing for transmitting power from one or each of two engines to a vertical drive shaft operatively connected to propellers mounted in a lower housing rotatable relatively to the stationary housing by steering mechanism controlled by a steering wheel. The idler shaft has an opening extending transversely therethrough, surrounded by an extrusion in the form of a collar perpendicular to the axis of the idler shaft, and the vertical drive shaft extends through said opening and collar and is supported by the idler shaft.
