Abstract: Methods for LTE-WLAN interworking control and management are proposed. In one novel aspect, a terminal equipment (TE) can use an AT command to query the WLAN offloadability of a packet data network (PDN) connection. A mobile termination (MT) can store the WLAN offloadability indication in its memory and return the value to TE upon receiving the AT command. In one example, a new field can be added to an existing AT command.

Abstract: A network-based solution of supporting IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) call setup in a next generation system (5GS) is proposed. During an attach or registration area update procedure, a serving base station sends an indication to a UE indicating whether IMS voice over PS session is supported or not. Upon receipt of the indication that IMS VoPS is supported, the UE triggers an IMS registration procedure. However, when an MO/MT call happens, the network determines that the UE may be in conditions where voice service is not supported because the network is not able to provide a successful IMS VoPS over the current serving cell connected to 5G core network. The network then triggers a RAT change or a EPS fallback procedure such that the UE is handover to a target cell that supports IMS VoPS.

An apparatus may transmit a non-access stratum (NAS) message in a NAS signaling connection. The apparatus may receive a NAS response message. The apparatus may initiate a timer to control the NAS signaling connection. The apparatus may further receive a circuit-switched (CS) service notification. The apparatus may stop the timer and execute a CS service procedure.

Abstract: Methods for LTE-WLAN interworking control and management are proposed. In one novel aspect, a mobile termination (MT) can use an AT command to report the change of a RAN rule and/or a RAN condition match. A terminal equipment (TE) can use the AT command to query a list of matches and current RAN measurement values. A RAN rule match means one or more than one of RAN rules satisfy the threshold provided by the network according to TS36.304 description, or change from satisfied to unsatisfied. A RAN condition match means all RAN rules within a RAN condition are all satisfied according to TS36.604 description, or if any of the RAN condition change from satisfied to unsatisfied. If the reporting is enabled by TE, an unsolicited result code (URC) is sent from MT to TE whenever changes in the current RAN rule or RAN condition match occur.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for enhanced bearer continuity for the 3GPP network. In one novel aspect, the UE detects missing parameters for the inter-RAT bearer change in an idle state. The UE performs bearer preservation procedures to maintain the bearer continuity. In one embodiment, predefined/preconfigured parameter settings are used. In one embodiment, a mapping rule is used to map the missing parameter to a predefined value based on one or more known parameters. In another embodiment, the missing parameters are obtained from the network. In another embodiment, signaling procedures used to obtain the missing parameters. The signaling procedures include a service request, a UE-initiated bearer modification procedure. In one embodiment, the cell reselection is suspended such that the signaling procedure is performed to obtain the missing parameters before the cell reselection. In another embodiment, a RAU procedure is used upon detecting the missing of parameters.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided to reduce service interruption for intra-RAT and inter-RAT handover procedures. The UE performs a NAS signaling procedure via a NAS signaling connection in a mobile communication network. The UE monitors a radio resource status and determines whether a radio bearer has been or is being established for a RRC connection for data transmission. Abstract: A method to manage call continuity in a network environment including a circuit-switched network and an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) network is provided. A UE monitors one or more ongoing sessions in an IMS network, and the ongoing sessions contain at least one conference call. The UE detects a network-switching event for the UE to switch from the IMS network to a circuit-switched CS network. The UE then determines the one or more ongoing sessions within the IMS network to be released or transferred to the CS network. Finally, the UE performs a session transfer procedure for transferring the determined sessions.

If reporting is enabled by TE, then an unsolicited result code (URC) is sent from MT to TE whenever changes in the current RAN assistance parameters occur.

Abstract: AT commands are used for controlling Mobile Termination (MT) functions and GSM/UMTS network services from a Terminal Equipment (TE) through Terminal Adaptor (TA). 3GPP introduces multiple backoff timers and barring to solve network congestion problem. However, a TE does not know the timer value and the barring status. In accordance with one novel aspect, a new AT command interface that can respond timer value and barring status to the TE is proposed. It reduces wasteful retries and saves power consumption of the TE. Through the new AT command interface, the TE can query backoff timer status. Via unsolicited result code (URC), the MT can detect backoff timer status change and report updated backoff timer status to the TE.
