The imidazonaphthyridine compound, 2-methyl-1-(2-methylpropyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-c][1,5]naphthyridin-4-amine, induces the biosynthesis of cytokines such as interferon and tumor necrosis factor. The compound exhibits antiviral and antitumor properties. Methods of preparing the compound and intermediates useful in the preparation of the compound are also disclosed.
