    Abstract: A glass composition having a content of SiO2 that is greater than or equal to about 44.0 mol. % and less than or equal to about 60.0 mol. % and a content of ZnO that is less than or equal to about 1.0 mol. %. Additionally, the glass composition is essentially free of Pb and Bi. The glass composition also has a refractive index that is greater than or equal to 1.75 and a density that is less than or equal to about 4.5 g/cm3.

    Abstract: A glass composition comprising: Al2O3, ZnO, and SiO2; TiO2, in the amount of at least 10 mol % and not greater than 20 mol %; and alkaline metal oxide selected from the group consisting of MgO, CaO, SrO, BaO, or any combination thereof, such that the molar sum of MgO, CaO, SrO, BaO, and ZnO, in the amount in the glass composition is least 20 mol % and not greater than 35 mol %, and such that: the amount of BaO is 0 to 10 mol %; the amount of MgO is 0 to 10 mol % the amount of CaO is 0 to 10 mol %, and the molar sum of CaO and MgO in the glass composition is less than 12.5 mol %; and rare earth metal oxides (ΣREmOn), in the amount of at least 1.5 mol % and not greater than 10 mol %; alkali metal oxides (ΣAlk2O), in the amount of greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 5 mol %; and not greater than 5 mol % of other components; and wherein −5 mol %≤Al2O3 (mol %)−1.5 ΣREmOn (mol %)−ΣAlk2O (mol %)≤+5 mol %.

    Abstract: A glass composition includes greater than or equal to 50 mol % to less than or equal to 65 mol % SiO2; greater than or equal to 15 mol % to less than or equal to 21 mol % Al2O3; greater than or equal to 4 mol % to less than or equal to 10 mol % B2O3; greater than or equal to 7 mol % to less than or equal to 12 mol % Li2O; greater than or equal to 1 mol % to less than or equal to 10 mol % Na2O; and greater than or equal to 0.2 mol % Y2O3+ZrO2. The glass is characterized by the relationship R2O+R′O−Al2O3≤3 mol %, wherein R2O is the total amount of alkali oxides and R′O is the total amount of alkaline earth oxides. The glass composition may have a fracture toughness of greater than or equal 0.75 MPa√m. The glass composition is ion exchangeable.

    Abstract: A glass composition includes: greater than or equal to 53 mol % and less than or equal to 70 mol % SiO2; greater than or equal to 9 mol % and less than or equal to 20 mol % Al2O3; greater than or equal to 10 mol % and less than or equal to 17.5 mol % B2O3; greater than or equal to 0 mol % Li2O; greater than or equal to 0 mol % Na2O; and greater than 0.1 mol % of a nucleating agent. The sum of Li2O and Na2O in the glass composition may be greater than or equal to 8 mol % and less than or equal to 30 mol %. The amount of Al2O3 minus the sum of R2O and RO in the glass composition may be greater than or equal to −3 mol %. The glass composition may be phase separable and may have an improved KIc fracture toughness.
