    摘要: A light-diffractive binary grating structure has a microscopic mesa structure (2) whose plateaux (5) are separated by valleys (4) of substantially rectangular cross-section, wherein the arrangement of the valleys (4) is periodically repeated. Within a period (T) of the mesa structure (2) at least N valleys (4) separate the plateaux (5), N being an integer and greater than 2. The mesa structure (2) is an additive superimposition of N phase-shifted rectangular structures which have the same period (T) of the mesa structure (2). Each of the rectangular structures has a phase shift such that the plateaux (5) of the one rectangular structure fall into the valleys (4) of the N−1 other rectangular structures. In addition the resulting mesa structure (2) has only a single valley between two plateaux (5), which is of a width greater than a seventh of the period (T). The binary grating structures are suitable for use in optically diffractive security elements as the binary grating structures cannot be copied with holographic means.

The security element has a pattern area (21), consisting of one or more design elements (22), the shape of which provides a first optically perceptible item of information. It furthermore has a background area (20) surrounding the one or more design elements of the pattern area at least in areas. The security element (1) has an opaque reflective layer which is not provided in the background area (20), and in the pattern area (21) is provided in first zones (31), but not in second zones. The first zones (31) are spaced apart from each other by less than 300 μm and have a minimum dimension of less than 300 μm.

    摘要: Light-diffracting microstructures are produced by the superimposition of at least two relief structures, wherein the first relief structure is produced mechanically while at least one second relief structure is a photomechanically generated diffraction structure. A process for the production of light-diffracting microstructures which are additive superimpositions comprising a relief structure and at least one diffraction structure, is distinguished by the following steps: a) producing a layer of photoresist on a substrate whose free surface has the relief structure, b) producing an interference pattern with coherent light over the relief structure, c) orienting the relief structure in relation to the interference pattern, d) exposing the relief structure by means of the interference pattern, e) developing the photoresist, wherein material of the photoresist which is changed by the exposure operation is removed and recesses, for example grooves, of the diffraction structure are produced on the relief structure, and f) drying the photoresist.
