Abstract: A cable can include a cable core surrounded by an outer sleeve having a uniform thickness and further having a first longitudinal section having a first stiffness (e.g., corresponding to a flexible cable), a second longitudinal section having a second stiffness (e.g., corresponding to a rigid cable), and a third longitudinal section between the first and second longitudinal sections, where the second stiffness is greater than the first stiffness and where a stiffness of the third longitudinal section varies between the first stiffness and the second stiffness. The second longitudinal section can provide strain relief for the cable.

Abstract: A charging assembly for wireless power transfer. In embodiments, the charging assembly comprises a housing, a cap structure, a ferrimagnetic sleeve, an inductive coil, a magnet, a printed circuit board assembly (PCBA), and a four-pin connector extending from a bottom surface of the PCBA. A ridge of the cap structure can be coupled to a lip of the housing. The housing can include a bottom housing surface having an aperture, and a sidewall extending between the bottom housing surface and the lip that extends outward from the sidewall along a perimeter of the housing parallel to the bottom housing surface. The four-pin connector can extend through the aperture of the housing. Some embodiments are directed to a charging device that incorporates the charging assembly.

Abstract: A transmitter device for an inductive energy transfer system can include a DC-to-AC converter operably connected to a transmitter coil, a first capacitor connected between the transmitter coil and one output terminal of the DC-to-AC converter, and a second capacitor connected between the transmitter coil and another output terminal of the DC-to-AC converter. One or more capacitive shields can be positioned between the transmitter coil and an interface surface of the transmitter device. A receiver device can include a touch sensing device, an AC-to-DC converter operably connected to a receiver coil, a first capacitor connected between the receiver coil and one output terminal of the AC-to-DC converter, and a second capacitor connected between the receiver coil and another output terminal of the AC-to-DC converter. One or more capacitive shields can be positioned between the receiver coil and an interface surface of the receiver device.

Abstract: Embodiments describe a wireless charging device including a housing having a charging surface and first and second walls defining an interior cavity, and a transmitter coil arrangement disposed within the interior cavity and configured to generate a time-varying magnetic flux and an electric field during wireless power transfer, where each of the plurality of transmitter coils has a central axis positioned a lateral distance away from the central axes of all other transmitter coils of the plurality of transmitter coils. The wireless charging mat also includes an electromagnetic shield positioned between the transmitter coil arrangement and the first wall, an interconnection structure positioned within the interior cavity between the transmitter coil arrangement and the second wall, and a ferromagnetic shield positioned within the interior cavity between the transmitter coil arrangement and the interconnection structure, the ferromagnetic shield is configured to redirect the magnetic flux away from the interconnection structure.

Abstract: A wireless charger for an electronic device. The charger includes a base having a base opening and an interior cavity defined by an upper shell, a lower shell and an inner sidewall extending between the upper and lower shells to define the base opening. An aperture is formed through the inner sidewall between the interior cavity and the base opening and a hinge is connected to the base within the interior cavity and extends through the aperture. The charger further includes a wireless charging assembly that is pivotably attached to the base by the hinge and moveable between a down position in which the wireless charging assembly is disposed within the base opening and an up position in which the wireless charging assembly extends outside the base. The charging assembly has a charging surface and a power transmitting unit disposed adjacent to the charging surface where the power transmitting unit is configured to wirelessly transmit power across the charging surface to a power receiving unit of a portable electronic device.

Abstract: An inductor coil for an inductive energy transfer system includes multiple layers of a single wire having windings that are interlaced within at least two of the multiple layers such that both an input end and an output end of the wire enter and exit the coil on a same side of the coil. The input end and the output end of the wire may abut one another at the location where the input and output wires enter and exit the inductor coil. The wire can include one or more bundles of strands and the strands in each bundle are twisted around an axis extending along a length of the wire, and when there are at least two bundles, the bundles may be twisted around the axis. At least one edge of the inductor coil can be formed into a variety of shapes, such as in a curved shape.

Abstract: An improved method is employed to produce a plug connector having a defined breaking strength. The plug connector is receivable in a receptacle connector disposed in an electronic device. The plug connector has an inner enclosure bonded to a tab of the connector. Abstract: Docking stations having a connector with a compliance mechanism to provide improved durability and flexibility are provided herein. The compliance mechanism may be attached to a connector in a base of a docking station and may include any or all of a flexure, a torsion bar, damping members, a compressive foam member, and an engineered base plate. The compliance mechanism may be configured to provide sufficient rigidity to the connector to support a portable device when mounted on the connector within the dock in an upright position, sufficient flexibility to allow angular displacement of a mounted portable device, and sufficient elasticity to provide a resilient biasing force to return the connector and a mounted portable device from a displaced position to the upright position.
