摘要: An air spring with damping characteristics for a suspension assembly of a heavy-duty vehicle includes a bellows and a piston. The bellows includes a bellows chamber. The bellows is attached to a main member of the heavy-duty vehicle and to the piston. The piston includes an open bottom that is sealingly closed by a disc attached to the open bottom. The piston and the disc define a piston chamber. The piston is mounted on the suspension assembly of the heavy-duty vehicle. The bellows chamber and the piston chamber are in fluid communication with each other via at least one opening, wherein airflow between the bellows chamber and the piston chamber provides damping to the suspension assembly of the heavy-duty vehicle.

摘要: A tone ring attachment for a disc brake rotor. The disc brake rotor has a disc portion that includes a plurality of circumferentially-spaced lugs. Each one of the lugs has a groove. A discrete tone ring body has a plurality of bosses. Each one of the bosses is receivable in a respective one of the grooves in the lugs. A dart projection extends from at least one of the bosses. The dart projection engages a respective one of the lugs to inhibit relative axial movement and relative rotational movement in at least one direction between the tone ring and the disc brake rotor. A tab is formed on at least one of the bosses. The tab is engageable with a portion of the lug to inhibit relative rotational movement in a second direction opposite the first direction between the tone ring and disc brake rotor.

摘要: A tone ring for a heavy-duty vehicle anti-lock braking system (ABS) that includes a filler disposed within spaces or notches between teeth formed in the tone ring. The filler is formed of a material that does not interfere with the ability of an ABS sensor to sense the teeth. In one embodiment, the filler includes a plurality of protrusions disposed within the spaces formed between the teeth. The plurality of protrusions are integrally formed with a base that extends circumferentially around the side of the tone ring opposite the ABS sensor. In another embodiment, the filler includes a plurality of fillings disposed within notches formed between the teeth. The filler prevents road debris and/or contaminants from damaging the tone ring teeth and damaging and/or misaligning the ABS sensor. A thin coating can extend over the tone ring teeth and the plurality of protrusions or fillings to encapsulate the teeth.

The clamp group secures a longitudinally disposed, leaf spring at separate and distinct locations, between which the leaf spring is undamped and spaced away from the top and bottom pads of the clamp group. Shear stress is reduced and the spring remains active throughout its length.

摘要: A wheel end assembly for a heavy-duty vehicle includes an axle spindle and a hub rotatably mounted on the axle spindle. A main seal extends radially between the axle spindle and the hub. The seal includes a dynamic portion that seats in a bore formed in the wheel hub, and a static portion that seats on the axle spindle. The static portion includes a rigid carrier that in turn includes a first member, and a second member that is rigidly attached to the first member. An elastomer is bonded to the carrier member and forms a first external lip. The first external lip extends generally parallel to a chamfer formed in an inboard end of the hub. The first external lip, other external features, and internal features prevent contaminants from entering the wheel end assembly, retain lubricant in the assembly, and provide a dynamic expulsion surface to expel contaminants.

摘要: A tool for measuring dimensions of disc brake components has an elongated first member. The elongated first member has a first tip extending transversely from the first member. The first tip has a first projection at an end portion of the first tip. An elongated second member is relatively movable to first member. The second member has a second tip extending transversely from the second member in the same direction as the first tip of the first member. The second tip has a second projection at an end portion of the second tip and extends in a direction towards the first projection. First indicia are provided on the first and second members to indicate the relative distance between the first and second projections when measuring an object located between the first and second projections. Second indicia are provided on the first and second members to indicate the relative distance between surfaces of the first and second tips when measuring spaced apart objects located outside of the first and second projections.

The energy storing suspension components include an axle seat portion, a first end, and a first limb extending between the axle seat portion and the first end. The axle seat portion includes first and second surfaces with at least one of the first and second surfaces having at least two spaced apart recesses that are spaced from a center of the axle seat portion, the recesses being configured to receive respective protrusions extending from at least one suspension component that is connected to the energy storing suspension component when coupled within an axle coupling assembly.

The pivotal connection includes the hanger, the beam, a bushing assembly and a fastener group, and a textured feature formed in at least one of at least a portion of the hanger, at least a portion of the bushing assembly, or at least a portion of the fastening means so that the textured feature inhibits relative movement of the bushing assembly with respect to the hanger.

摘要: A tie rod arm is provided for incorporation into a vehicle steering assembly. The tie rod arm has a grease cap portion with a steering knuckle connection formation and a grease seal cap. The steering knuckle connection formation is used to connect the tie rod arm to the body of a steering knuckle of the vehicle steering assembly. The grease seal cap receives the lower end of a kingpin of the vehicle steering assembly. The grease cap portion of the tie rod arm is integrally formed with an arm portion, which includes a tie rod connection formation to connect the tie rod arm to a tie rod of the vehicle steering assembly. A steering arm may also or alternatively be connected to the body of the steering knuckle and include an upper grease seal cap, which receives the upper end of the kingpin.
