An image processing apparatus of this invention includes a unit for calculating an average value in a first block pixel area including an objective pixel, a unit for calculating an average value in a second block pixel area including the objective pixel, and a binarization unit for determining, as a binary output of the objective pixel, a binarization result obtained by binarizing the average value in the second block pixel area by the average value in the first block pixel area as a threshold value.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to an arrangement for monitoring a road condition which determines the coefficient of friction of the road surface on the basis of a signal corresponding to an acceleration of a vehicle detected by an acceleration sensor. The signal is converted into one of at least two predetermined values by conversion means in response to a magnitude of the acceleration every cycle of a predetermined time period. The converted value is summed up by summing means by a predetermined number of consecutive cycles to provide a total value in the last cycle thereof which is stored in memory means. Then, in determination means, one of at least two standard values is selected in response to the condition of increase or decrease of the total value in the present cycle provided by the summing means as compared with the total value in the previous cycle stored in the memory means. And, the total value in the present cycle is compared with the above one of at least two standard values to produce a road condition signal corresponding to a result of comparison which represents the coefficient of friction of the road surface. The present system is applicable to an anti-skid control system for an automotive vehicle.

The anti-skid control system is provided with wheel velocity sensors only for the driving wheels and is capable of performing the anti-skid control through its accurate estimation of the vehicle speed and proper compensatory control even when sharp braking occurs immediately upon the release of the accelerator after the occurrence of acceleration slip. The anti-skid control system is capable of starting the anti-skid control with certainty even when the braking operation is not detected because of a failure in the operation of the brake switch. The system is provided with a fluid pressure generating device, a fluid pressure controlling device, a brake operation detecting device, an acceleration detecting device, a wheel velocity detecting device, a braking force controlling device, a first estimated vehicle speed setting device and a second estimated vehicle speed setting device.

There is provided an image processing apparatus for modulating a concentration of input image data, comprising: an inputting device to input image data; a RAM to store first image data input by the inputting device; a processing unit to execute a modulating process to at least one area such as a non-rectangular area in second image data input by the inputting device by using the first image data stored in the RAM; and a detector to detect a predetermined color of the second image data. The area is specified by the color detected by the detector. The inputting device includes a CCD for reading an original and generating RGB color component signals. With this apparatus, a texture process is executed to at least one non-rectangular area and the result can be output in a real-time manner.

There is an image processing apparatus such as a copying apparatus for processing an input image data. This apparatus comprises: an image scanner such as a CCD to digitally read out the image data from a document; a discriminating unit to discriminate whether the input image data is the halftone image data such as a photograph or single density image data such as characters or symbols; a magnification change unit to change the magnification of the image data; and a smoothing unit to smooth the image data in the case where the discriminating unit decides that the input image data is the halftone image data when the magnification change unit performs the magnification changing process. The discriminating unit executes the above discrimination on the basis of the density levels of or density difference between a target pixel and its peripheral pixels in the input image data. With this apparatus, the magnification of the halftone image can be smoothly changed.

An active vibration insulator includes an electromagnetic actuator, a controller, and a bad-roads processor. The electromagnetic actuator generates vibrating forces depending on electric-current supplies. The controller carries out vibrating-forces generation control. In the vibrating-forces generation control, the electric-current supplies are made variable so as to actively inhibit vibrations generated by an on-vehicle vibration generating source of a vehicle from transmitting to a specific part of the vehicle based on cyclic pulsating signals output from the on-vehicle vibration generating source. Thus, the controller lets the electromagnetic actuator generate the vibrating forces. The bad-roads processor stops the vibrating-forces generation control effected by the controller when the vehicle travels on bad roads.

In addition, a film is formed on the semiconductor element to provide a material of an interlayer insulation layer, and a reflow process is performed at a temperature about 700° C. or over in an wet atmosphere so that the interlayer insulation layer is formed from the film and an edge portion of the gate electrode is rounded and oxidized.
