Abstract: This disclosure relates to methods and devices for transmitting acknowledgment messages on a preferred cell in a carrier aggregation scenario. A user equipment device (UE) establishes a connection with a primary cell and one or more secondary cells, and determines a preferred cell from among the primary cell and the one or more secondary cells based at least in part on one or more quality metrics. The UE may determine the preferred cell at least in part in response to determining that transmission power of the UE has been limited due to a specific absorption rate (SAR) backoff feature of the UE. The UE transmits a notification to a network indicating that the UE intends to transmit an acknowledgement message to the preferred cell, and transmits the acknowledgment message to the preferred cell.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to providing a reservation signal for cellular communication in unlicensed spectrum. A cellular base station may perform a listen-before-talk procedure on an unlicensed frequency channel. The cellular base station may transmit a reservation signal on the unlicensed frequency channel after successfully performing the listen-before-talk procedure. The cellular base station may perform carrier sensing on the unlicensed frequency channel at least once during the duration of the reservation signal. Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for generating and utilizing improved initialization vectors (IVs) when performing encryption and authentication in wireless communications. In some scenarios, a wireless communication device may generate one or more pseudorandom multi-bit values, e.g., using a respective plurality of key derivation functions (KDFs). A first portion of each value may be used as a respective key for encryption or authentication of traffic on the user plane or the control plane. A second portion of each value may be used as a nonce value in a respective IV for use with a respective key for encryption or authentication of traffic on the user plane or the control plane. In some scenarios, the nonce values may instead be generated as part of an additional pseudorandom value (e.g., by executing an additional KDF), from which all of the IVs may be drawn.

Abstract: Groupcast communications between devices of a group of devices, e.g. between vehicles in a platoon, may include a device in the group transmitting a groupcast message in a sidelink transmission to the other devices and receiving feedback information in sidelink transmissions from the other devices within the same channel occupancy time (CoT). The feedback information may be transmitted by the other devices in response to the groupcast message including an information request directed to the other devices. The group of devices may include a designated group leader which may manage one or more aspects of the communications of the other devices in the group. The designated group leader may be dynamically switched based at least on the received feedback information. The devices in the group may use beamforming for intra-group and inter-group sidelink communications for efficient spectrum usage.
