    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for communicating user data in a small data transfer (SDT) in a non-terrestrial network (NTN) while a user equipment (UE) is in an idle or inactive mode. A method that may be performed the UE includes transmitting, to a non-terrestrial base station (NTBS) in an NTN, an SDT indication message including a first indication that the UE has user data to transmit in an SDT while the UE is in an idle or inactive mode, receiving, from the NTBS in response to the SDT indication message, a resource indication message including an indication of a set of resources for transmitting user data in the SDT, and transmitting the user data in the SDT to the NTBS while the UE is in the idle or inactive mode via the set of resources indicated in the resource indication message.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device (e.g., a base station) may transmit, to a user equipment (UE), an indication of a field type of a field between the UE and the wireless device. The indication of the field type may include one or more bits indicating the field type, a measure indicating a likelihood that the field type includes a first field type as compared to a second field type, an indication that the first type is the same as a second field type configured at the UE, or any combination thereof. The UE may select between a first set of beam weight vectors and a second set of beam weight vectors based on the field type. The UE may communicate, with the base station, a reference signal using a beam generated using a first beam weight vector from the selected set.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Neural networks may assist user equipments (UEs) and base stations in performing various operations related to wireless communications. For example, neural networks may be used to generate non-orthogonal cover codes for transmitting reference signals such as channel state information-reference signals (CSI-RSs). A base station may transmit, to a UE, a CSI-RS associated with a non-orthogonal cover code of a set of non-orthogonal cover codes. Using the CSI-RS, the UE may perform a channel estimation procedure that corresponds to the non-orthogonal cover code. Based on the channel estimation procedure, the UE may transmit a feedback message to the base station that indicates a channel quality parameter. Additionally, or alternatively, a UE may receive a CSI-RS, determine a precoding matrix using the CSI-RS and neural network, and transmit an indication of the pre-coding matrix to a base station.
