    摘要: A squeeze toy of air-filled elastomer material including a whistle, and a method and apparatus for forming the same. A small cavity or depression is molded into the body of the toy to form the whistle site. A small cap, which may comprise a flat or slightly rounded disk, or a small hollow cylinder, closes the small cavity or depression forming the whistle site. A pair of small openings are formed in centered, aligned relation in the cap and in the bottom of the cavity, completing the whistle. The body of the toy is preferably formed by blow molding techniques, using the opening in the bottom of the cavity corresponding to the whistle hole to blow air in during the molding process, and to blow the finished part out of the mold. The whistle cap may either be made simultaneously with the body, by blow molding, or by separate injection molding techniques.

    摘要: A sweep ell production apparatus (10) receives extruded plastic pipe (98) from an extruder (96). The plastic pipe (98) is passed through a curved sizing sleeve (100) which imparts a curvature to the plastic pipe (98) while at the same time sizing the pipe wall thicknesses and exterior diameter. After the pipe (98) passes through the sizing sleeve (100) a clamp (84) is secured about the periphery of the pipe (98). The clamp (84) is driven by means of a motor (34) which causes the clamp (84) to travel along an arc (112) which corresponds with the radius of curvature of the sizing sleeve (100). As the clamp (84) draws pipe (98) along the arc (112) of travel, the pipe (98) is set to have the desired radius of curvature. After a selected arc length of pipe (98) is produced, the pipe section is cut to produce the desired sweep ell.

The parisons are conveyed in series to a plurality of fixed heating stations at which the parisons are fixedly positioned for heating, the parisons being rotated for uniform heating. The heating is enhanced by blowing air under pressure through a tunnel enclosing the successive heating stations. Finally, the parison is stretched and blown at a blow station in a blow mold of unique design.

    摘要: Successive increments of a thermoplastic tube are extruded in vertical direction from an orifice, and a first partible mold is closed about the increment immediately downstream of the orifice whereupon the increment is expanded to the shape of a first semi-finished container, while simultaneously completing the expansion of the neck region of an already filled second semi-finished container accommodated in a second partible mold downstream of the first mold and communicating with the interior of the first container, is completed. The containers are then sealed and separated from one another and the first container in the first mold is filled. The second container is discharged from the second mold and the relative positions of the molds are reversed in preparation for repetition of the preceding steps.

    摘要: A process is disclosed for modifying polyethylene terephthalate so that the polyethylene terephthalate may be processed into plastic containers using conventional extrusion blow molding equipment. The polyethylene terephthalate is modified by the incorporation into a polyethylene terephthalate prepolymer of a chain branching agent and a chain terminating agent. The prepolymer is subsequently solid-state polymerized to form a polyethylene terephthalate polymer having high zero shear rate melt viscosity and shear sensitivity. This modified polyethylene terephthalate polymer may be extrusion blow molded in intermittent and continuous processes.
