    摘要: An auger useable for creating an opening in the ground for a soil sensor housing wherein the sensor housing has a predetermined volume and a tapered outer surface, includes an auger made in accordance with the methods described and defined in this specification. The auger having a shaft having an outer surface of circular cross-section having an larger outer diameter at one end than the other end and a strip material having a helical shape with an inner wall having a larger inner diameter at one end than the other end of the helical shape wherein the helically shaped material is fixed over the outer diameter of the shaft to form a tapered auger with helical flighting. The volume of the opening created by an auger in the ground will provide a matching volume for a sensor housing of a predetermined volume such that substantially the full length of the tapered outer surface of the sensor is adjacent the ground along the full length/depth of the created opening.

    摘要: A load characteristic adjustment system for use with a linear-spring forming apparatus is provided, in which the load characteristic of a conic spring can be conveniently and efficiently regulated during the formation of the spring, thereby reliving much of a physical burden of a worker to find an optimum load characteristic of a coil spring. The load characteristics adjustment system comprises: a linear material feeder for feeding a linear material; at least one spring forming tool facing the linear material feeder, adapted to abut against the linear material to coil the linear material; spiraling means for spiraling the coiled linear material; and coil-diameter varying means for varying the diameter of the coiled linear material. The load characteristic adjustment system controls the linear material feeder so as to feed the linear material at a regulated constant acceleration to adjust the load characteristic of the conical spring formed.

    摘要: In a cold coil forming process, a pitch control tool is moved in synchronism with the displacement of the outer diameter control roller so as to form a coil spring having a straight and oblique axial line, and, at the same time, maintain a pitch of the coil wire substantially constant substantially over an entire length thereof. Thus, the method of the present invention can be implemented by using a conventional coiling machine only if the outer diameter control roller and the pitch control tool can be adjusted as required by the present invention. In particular, the pitch of the coil spring can be kept constant over each turn of the coil wire without regard to the variation in the radius of curvature of the coil spring.

Unlike the conventional apparatus, it is possible to wind a wire material in a variety of ways in different directions while keeping the position of the workpiece in a certain posture.

Substantially all tooling including a coiling tool, a pitch tool and an auxiliary arbor are also servo motor operated with three axes of servo control including a "torsion" axis provided for the coiling tool. The auxiliary arbor has a plurality of wire forming positions and is also servo motor controlled. The "torsion" movement for the coiling tool is controlled by a servo motor-cam mechanism for accurate high speed operation with a high frequency of torsion movement of the coiling tool.

    摘要: There are provided low profile inductor and transformer windings, and methods for fabricating the same. An elongate conductive ribbon is wound in one continuous direction on a generally hourglass shaped mandrel to form the ribbon into a double conical helix having a plurality of spaced apart coils. A sheet of dielectric material having an orifice therethrough is threaded to the midpoint of the double conical helix. The two sides of the helix are then compressed into planes such that the coils in each side lie flat and engage the adjacent side of the sheet of dielectric material. A compound inductor winding can be fabricated from a continuous conductive ribbon wound into a plurality of double conical helixes joined end-to-end. After compression, the compound winding consists of a low profile stack of spiraled windings connected in series, but constituting only one continuous ribbon having no internal connections.

The apparatus for practicing this process comprises a cam unit having a pitch cam, a connecting rod following a follower of the cam unit, a spring for exerting a spring force to engage the follower of the cam unit with the pitch cam, a pitch tool extendible through a pitching lever by the force of the spring to determine the pitch of the coiled spring to be formed, a spring for constantly exerting a spring force to retract the pitch tool, a stopper for independently restricting the pitch tool to the position to which it is extended or to its reference position, and a roller rotating mechanism for intermittently rotating feed rollers at a given angle in a certain direction, the rollers feeding a wire to a bending die positioned in front of the pitch tool.
