Abstract:
The rate of acidizing a material such as a carbonate reservoir is reduced by treating it with an aqueous solution that contains enough weak acid to react with a significant amount of the material and enough weak acid salt to provide a weak acid to weak salt ratio that maintains the concentration of ionized weak acid at a relatively low level at which its rate of reaction is relatively low.
Abstract:
An acid-in-oil emulsion having a greatly enhanced retardation rate is prepared by employing in the emulsion a mixture of an effective amount of an oil wetting surfactant, e.g., a saturated hydrocarbon sulfonate, and an emulsifier, e.g., an alkylaryl sulfonic acid or water soluble salt thereof.
Abstract:
A composition is provided which is especially useful as a fluid loss additive for acidic aqueous solutions. The composition is prepared by first mixing together an emulsifier, an oil soluble surfactant dispersing agent and a carrier oil. Clay particles are then dispersed in the mixture followed by an adhesive binder which functions to bind the clay particles together when screened out on a formation face.
Abstract:
THE ACTION OF ACID EMULSIONS FOR UE INACIDIZING HYDROCARBON-BEARING FORMATIONS IS PROLONGED BY EMPLOYING AS THE PRINCIPAL EMULSIFYING AGENT AN AMINE SALT OF DODECYLBENZENE SULFONIC ACID. ACID EMULSIONS EMPLOYING THE AMINE SALT OF DODECYLBENZENE SULFONIC ACID EXHIBIT GREATER STABILITY THAN THOSE EMPLOYING THE FREE ACID.
Abstract:
Aqueous acidic compositions gelled with a polymer having pendent amide or nitrile functions cross-linked by a monomer containing a plurality of -(CH2OR) groups bonded to amido nitrogen and a process for their preparation. The gelling system of this invention finds particular utility in explosive compositions based on an oxidizing agent and one or more fuels or sensitizers.
Abstract:
THIS PATENT DESCRIBES A NON-CORROSIVE FLUID COMPOSITION FOR TREATING EARTHEN FORMATIONS CONTAINING SULFIDES, CONSISTING ESSENTIALLY OF AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION OF HYDROCHLORIC ACID, A CORROSION INHIBITING AMOUNT OF A HYDROCHLORIC ACID INHIBITING AGENT SUBJECT TO DETERIORATION BY SULFIDES, SAID SULFIDES BEING PRESENT IN A SUFFICIENT AMMOUNT TO REDUCE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SAID INHIBITING AGENT, AND A CORROSION INHIBITOR DETERIORATION REDUCING AGENT HAVING THE FORMULA OF
R-S(=O)-R
WHEREIN R IS SELECTED FROM THE GROUP CONSISTING OF ALKYL GROUP AND ARYL GROUP, EACH GROUP HAVING FROM 2 TO 10 CARBON ATOMS AND SAID CORROSION INHIBITOR DETERIORATION REDUCING AGENT BEING PRESENT IN A SUFFICIENT AMMOUNT TO REDUCE THE DETERIORATION EFFECT OF SAID SULFIDES ON SAID INHIBITING AGENT.
