    Abstract: A dynamic power control system for controlling power utilization on a local level in a power sub-network of a power grid is presented. The power sub-network is configured with switchable power nodes, each having a switch element that operates to switch coupling and uncoupling of first and second subsets of power lines in the sub-network. A sub-network controller monitors utility information that is associated with one of a plurality of switch state configurations of the respective switch states of the switchable power nodes in the power sub-network, and effects the switch states of the switchable power nodes to comply with the switch state configuration associated with the received utility information.

    Abstract: A system and method for real time monitoring and control of energy consumption at a number of facilities to allow aggregate control over the power consumption. A central location receives information over a communications network, such as a wireless network, from nodes placed at facilities. The nodes communicate with devices within the facility that monitor power consumption, and control electrical devices within the facility. The electrical devices may be activated or deactivated remotely by the central location. This provides the ability to load balance a power consumption grid and thereby proactively conserve power consumption as well as avoid expensive spikes in power consumption. The present invention also includes a wireless network for communicating with the number of facilities, and which allows other information to be collected and processed.

    Abstract: A device comprising a fault detector and communications module. The communications module can transmit and receive information and data via a commercial two-way wireless system, which may include two-way paging technology. The inventive device is capable of measuring imbalance currents in a remote capacitor bank, and if the imbalance current exceeds a set threshold the inventive device communicates this information, and/or other information, to an electric utility control center. One or more energy storage systems may be coupled to an energy grid and able to charge from and discharge to the energy grid, and may communicate with the hardware processor via the communication network. Based on the charging requests and discharging requests, an energy schedule may be generated. The energy schedule may include a first set of the prosumer facilities from which charge requests are accepted, and a second set of prosumer facilities from which discharge requests are accepted. One or several energy storage systems may be controlled or triggered to charge or discharge repeatedly via the energy grid according to an updated energy schedule (e.g., regularly updated).
