Abstract:
Phrases, sentences and complete paragraphs used frequently by a sender who writes in one language in corresponding with a receiver who reads a second language, are prerecorded on properly coded cards in the second language. The cards and their contents are constructed and arranged to be mounted one after the other on a supporting sheet, the composite sheet and cards therein being adapted for copying by a commercial copying device to provide a reproduction that needs only to have a date added to provide a complete commercial letter, for example. Each coded card has an identifying code designation which is reproduced in the final letter, the code deisgnation, instead of being a drawback, is a time saver for the executive who reads the letter or its counterparts before signing.
Abstract:
A language teaching device which includes an open-ended holder in which can be received a card having intelligence in a first foreign language provided on the opposite faces of the card. The intelligence is arranged on the card in a column of successive linear entries extending longitudinally of the card and corresponding intelligence in the language of the user is provided in like manner on portions of the sides of the holder, the holder being of a transparent material which is masked in respect of the portions thereof carrying intelligence so that the card may be viewed through the unmasked portions. The card and holder further are provided with cooperating indicia means for assuring that the corresponding side of the card appears through the unmasked portion of the holder and for aligning the intelligence on the card and that on the holder registrably thereby associating any given entry in the language of the card with its corresponding equivalent in the language of the holder.

A foreign language vocabulary drill game is played with two different sets of cards, one set called the ''''player cards'''' has two sides. On the first side are two columns of words with the words of the two languages having the same meaning being on the same line, and a column of points score for each line. On the second side of the player cards is also two columns of words. The first column being identical with the first column of the first side, the second column of words in the unknown language being scrambled, that is to say the words of the same meaning are not opposite each other. Each player has one player card. There is another set of cards called the ''''word cards,'''' on each of which there is a single word in one of the languages with the same word in the other language on the reverse side of it. These word cards are in a pile with only one word card exposed at a time. The players pick a letter from the exposed word card and cover this letter from the words on the first line of the first side. The first one to cover one word and call ''''Lingo'''' or both words on his first line and call ''''Lingo-Bingo'''' is the winner of that part of the play, and receives the point total indicated on that line on his card. Each line is played in succession. After all of the lines on the first side of the player card are finished by someone winning each line, all of the player cards are reversed and the play continues on the second side with the scrambled words. The principal difference from the play on the first side is that the player must cover the letter chosen from the word card beginning with the first word in the first column and then in order to win the line must also cover at least one letter in the correct translation of the word in the second column.

A method for controllable toggling viewing of written materials with adjuvant or explanatory notation material as a teaching or memorization tool. The method comprises the steps of imprinting adjuvant or explanatory notation materials adjacent to or in close conjunction with a visible text or notation, as a non visible or an invisible imprint. The non visible invisible adjuvant or explanatory notation material is made to become temporarily visible or viewable with a heat source or a viewing device for a controlled desired period of time by using the visible adjuvant or explanatory notation to perform a reading or writing function. Removing the viewing device or reducing heat renders the adjuvant or explanatory notation non visible or invisible.

A composite fabric includes a lining layer and a metallized membrane. The metallized membrane includes a polymer layer having polyurethane and nano/micro metal particles embedded in the polymer layer. The nano/micro metal particles are about 10-50 wt % inclusive of the metallized membrane. The lining layer is connected to the metallized membrane via point contacts.
Abstract:
A device for communicating, preferably between two people who could not normally orally communicate, by at least one user pointing to pictograms on the device. The device can be a static medium having a plurality of icons thereon or can be part of a computer generated program having a graphic display that is either moving or stationary so that a user can select at least one icon to communicate an idea. When two or more people use the device to communicate, the device enables a dialogue to develop between the people. A first responder to an emergency situation could use the device in any country to gather information to quickly respond to the situation.

The invention disclosed herein relates generally to a phoneme communication system. More specifically, the invention relates to a phoneme communication system utilizing entertaining phoneme symbols that have a one-to-one correspondence with a phoneme. The invention also relates to phonetic patch for correcting already existing orthographic codifications of English phonemes and other phonemes.

A method and system for communicating in more than one language includes a communication system of cards. In one embodiment, the communication system of cards is for a communicator to communicate in a first language to a receiver in a second language. The communication system includes a communication card comprising a communication and a translated communication. The communication is in the first language, and the translated communication is a translation of the communication in the first language to the second language. The communication is a task for the receiver. The communication system also includes an instruction card comprising an instruction communication and a translated instruction communication. The instruction communication is in the first language, and the translated instruction communication is in the second language. The instruction communication is an instruction from the communicator to the receiver or from the receiver to the communicator. The communication system also includes visual illustrations.
