Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for distinguishing a disease state from a non-disease state in an image. An embodiment operates by receiving an image of a target area over a network. The embodiment then corrects for background noise in the image by applying a semantic segmentation filter to obtain a segmented image. The sematic segmentation filter may be trained to remove the background noise from the image. The embodiment then determines, using a trained artificial intelligence (AI) model and the segmented image, at least one classification for the target area. The embodiment finally causes the display of the at least one classification and disease information on a user device associated with a user. The trained AI model may be trained using at least augmented images obtained from a set of images to correct for at least an imbalance in the set of images.

Abstract: A medical information processing apparatus according to an embodiment includes a storage and processing circuitry. The storage is configured to store therein, for each point of a frequency space represented by a plurality of pieces of first frequency component data acquired by applying frequency conversion to data inside regions of interest set to medical images, characteristic data representing a tendency of spectral values that appear at the point. The processing circuitry is configured to acquire second frequency component data by applying frequency conversion to a medical image to be processed, to determine similarity of a spectral value at each point of a frequency space represented by the second frequency component data, with the characteristic data, and to designate a target area in the frequency space represented by the second frequency component data based on the result of the determination.

Abstract: In certain embodiments, a system, a computer-implemented method, and computer-readable medium are disclosed for performing integrated analysis of MSI and OCT images to diagnose eye disorders. MSI and OCT are processed using separate input machine learning models to create input feature maps that are input to an intermediate machine learning model. The intermediate machine learning model processes the input feature maps and outputs a final feature map that is processed by one or more output machine learning models that output one or more estimated representations of a pathology of the eye of the patient.

Abstract: A method for providing a collision model includes detecting an item of patient information that has an item of information on a spatial placement of an entry point of a medical object into an object undergoing examination. The item of patient information is registered with a movable medical device. The method also includes detecting an item of object information that has an item of information on a geometry and spatial position of a manipulator for moving the medical object. The manipulator includes a motion device and/or a member of technical medical personnel. A relative placement of the manipulator in relation to the object undergoing examination is determined based on the item of patient information and the item of object information. The collision model is provided for the purpose of moving the medical device based on the relative placement and the item of object information.

Abstract: The invention relates to a system of detecting vasculature in optical coherence tomography (OCT) image data of a tissue of a subject, the OCT image data comprising OCT scan data and OCT angiography (OCTA) scan data, the system comprises segmenting the OCT scan data to locate a layer of interest in the tissue; generating an en face vascular network map from the OCTA scan data; projecting one or more vascular regions from the en face vascular network map onto the layer of interest in a cross-sectional image of the OCT scan data to define one or more regions of interest (ROIs), wherein respective ROIs are defined by the intersection between the vascular regions and the layer of interest; and identifying vascular objects in the one or more ROIs. In the preferred embodiment, the tissue is retina, vessels are removed from the layer of interest and the retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) thickness is determined.

Abstract: A system and method for identifying abnormal medical images. The system can be configured to receive a medical image, segment an anatomical structure from the medical image to define a segmented dataset, register the segmented dataset to a baseline dataset defining a normal anatomical structure, classify, by an abnormality classifier, whether the anatomical structure within the medical image as either abnormal or normal, wherein the abnormality classifier comprises a machine learning algorithm trained to distinguish between normal and abnormal versions of the anatomical structure in medical images, and based on whether the anatomical structure can be segmented from the medical image, whether the segmented dataset can be registered to the baseline dataset, or a classification associated with the medical image output by the abnormality classifier, flagging the medical image as either normal or abnormal.
