摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed to implement a contextual comparison of machine registry hive files. In embodiments, the comparison process is implemented by a data collection agent that periodically uploads changes in a client machine registry to a machine assessment service. During a data collection, the agent compares a binary hive file generated from the current state of the registry with another binary hive file generated in the last period. The differences are captured in a text-encoded patch file, which is used to update a snapshot of the registry maintained by the machine assessment service. The comparison is performed directly on the two binary hive files without converting them into text files, so that the process can be performed more quickly and using less compute bandwidth. Moreover, the comparison process can be extended to implement a variety of custom behaviors based on the contents of the hive files.

摘要: The described technology is generally directed an extension to the IFS domains architecture, referred to herein as filter domains. IFS domains allows tagging of files in a tree-like dataset. Thus, a domain can be defined at the root of the dataset such as the topmost directory under which all files reside. These domains are inherently hierarchichal, path-based entities. Filter domains extends this organization to allow domains to be applied beyond hierarchical tree structures in order to also provide arbitrary grouping of file objects based on any suitable membership condition.

摘要: Hybrid synchronization using a shadow component includes detecting a first component of a plurality of mirrored components of a distributed data object becoming unavailable. The mirrored components include a delta component (a special shadow component) and a regular mirror (shadow) component. The delta component indicates a shorter history of changes to data blocks of a log-structured file system (LFS) than is indicated by the regular mirror component. During the unavailability of the first component, at least one write I/O is committed by the delta component. The commit is tracked by the delta component in a first tracking bitmap associated with the delta component. Based at least on detecting the first component becoming available, the first component is synchronized with data from the delta component, based at least on changed data blocks indicated in the first tracking bitmap.

摘要: A self-healing data synchronization process includes an initial stage in which a collection of data change events is received, a set of data record(s) corresponding to the data change event(s) is identified, and a syncing of the set of data record(s) is initiated. Data that indicates which data record(s) successfully synced and which failed is stored. During a subsequent stage of the self-healing process, data change events that occurred during a preceding time horizon are identified, a corresponding first set of data record(s) are identified, a difference between the first set and a second set of data record(s) that successfully synced during the time horizon is determined as a third set of data record(s), and any data record that was attempted to be synced during the time horizon but failed is excluded from the third set. A sync of any data record remaining in the third set is then initiated.
